Because for those of us who are into needle play (such as myself) it is the fastest, easiest way to a massive endorphin high (or "subspace", if you prefer). It only takes me 3-6 needles for it to start to kick in and it only gets better as more are done. It takes much longer for other kinds of play such as candle wax, the violet wand, or a good flogging (starting light and building up in intensity over time) to produce anything close to the same results.

The only thing that keeps me from really enjoying this photo is the arm or object in the background.
