Description Inspired by my previous deviant icon, I decided to create something similar yet more detailed. Not only that, but I wanted it to tesselate so that it could be tiled horizontally, vertically or both.

This is the state of it so far, however, at the moment it is over the 15kb limit and so I will need to do some extra work to try and economise on a few bytes here and there without losing any of the frames.

If you want to preview it in 'tiled' mode, click here: [link]

Wow, that looks amazing. I'm guessing it was made for a dA avatar because of the size.

zoggles In reply to haggleman [2004-05-04 23:06:13 +0000 UTC]

By pixelling it at 800% or 1600% with a smaller 100% preview window of it open at the same time.

thats so good, how do you make things tileable?? is there a way to do this easy? if so please tell me! I really need to know, especially now that i have seen this, it's so good!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zoggles In reply to rdj [2004-04-20 16:12:37 +0000 UTC]

There is no magical way unfortunately, other than to keep testing it out by pasting a few copies of itself around the edges and checking how it lines up.

halo-zero [2004-04-16 04:49:13 +0000 UTC]

this is really impressive too. it's kinda hard to tesselate things so you can tile them, but you did it flawlessly. when it's tiled, you can follow those cars forever...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zoggles In reply to halo-zero [2004-04-20 16:15:20 +0000 UTC]

Heh hopefully I'll get around to adding another car or two now that I've manadeg to shrink the filesize enough to handle it. It should then look even smoother when tiled.

Very impressive indeed, Z. The tiling effect is truly well done (ran very slow on my comp but enough to witness it in all its glory) and also the pixel work is quite refined and well shaded. Great job!

Wow. Great job, looking extremely detailed.

It really reminds me of SimCity, as BGR said. It's really great, and the animation is awesome.

Here's another one in the favorites.

i too dream of a day when the maximum size for an avatar will grow as technology grows... but until then c'est la vie! I love the miniscule details dude. +fav

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zoggles In reply to -blink-once- [2004-04-03 04:13:39 +0000 UTC]

Heh actually I like being confined to a small space like 50x50 and trying to cram detail in.

If it was 100x100, I would probably still use the same scale, but have many more buildings and cars etc - would also take about ten times longer to make though!

Not only is this an awesomely detailed little piece but you got the whole tiling thing going on. Quality pixel art! (as expected of you )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zoggles In reply to a-t-o-m-i-c [2004-03-29 16:13:27 +0000 UTC]

Heh thanks. The tiling aspect took about the longest portion of the time spent on it - particularly with matching up the animations and getting them synchronised.
