Description
She wasn't doing much, really. The night was cool and peaceful, and not many stirred out in the savannah. The occasional grunt or movement of the herbivores would sound out, but other than that it was quiet. Kahawia was merely slinking along through the grass, paying little attention to her surroundings, save for where her paws where going. She was content, for the most part, just moving along on her own. Like always.
However, it wasn't to be, this night. She slowed her steps for a moment, suddenly caught by the scent of an unfamiliar feline--a male lion. The brown lioness was nearing some brush and small acacia, and she spotted nothing immediately. She didn't think she'd trespassed into land owned by a pride...certainly she would have scented them. Kahawia continued to move, though. She didn't feel the need to stop and investigate now. Perhaps she'd just pass through and not have to bother with anyone.
"Yah!" She was halted by a sudden but gentle collision to her head. Reeling back, she came face to face with a young male, orangey in color with a red mane. He looked just as surprised, and was hovering somewhat nervously near a clump of brambles. Apparently he hadn't seen her as he had come around them. Not his fault, for she hadn't been looking either. "Oh...excuse me." she sniffed slightly, eyeing him.
He blinked. "Wow, I'm really sorry about that." he rumbled, giving her a small, sheepish smile. He seemed friendly enough, and Kahawia would forgive him because of that. She gave him a quick nod. "It's alright," she replied, also smiling slightly. He had sat down, looking a bit resigned.
"You going anywhere?" Kahawia asked, mildly curious. She stayed on her paws, but the slope of her shoulders told she was relaxed.
"Nope," he answered, "I've got nothing to do and nowhere to be." The lion tilted his head a bit, his eyes bright and friendly.
Kahawia watched him for a moment. "Perhaps you'd like to walk with me?" she queried out of the blue. She wasn't sure why she said it, but she was incredibly bored. And he was rather good-looking, maybe. Though she wasn't thinking that much about it...really.
He jumped to his paws, flicking up his red-tipped tail. "Really?" he looked excited, like a cub. She grinned a little. "That would be nice, actually." he finished, trying to appear a bit more decent. "My name's Mashoga, by the way."
I'm Kahawia," Kahawia coiled her tail about her hind legs. "Well, c'mon, the night won't last forever." she purred, brushing past him. "It'll be good to have a friend again." And perhaps more than that.... She smiled genuinely at him, looking up into his face. He had such bright eyes. The brown lioness flicked her tail against his haunches, staring for a moment. Then she shook her head and moved away, Mashoga tagging along.
