Description

This tumblr post reminded me of how much I love Durnehviir. He is definitely my favorite thing from the Dawnguard DLC. (Even though he’s hard as sh!t to draw… like damn… )

His backstory is just so… so… He’s a very interesting character (like many of the DG characters tbh) and, as said in the linked post, he’s the only dragon who doesn’t call us Dovahkiin, but instead Qahnaarin.

In the picture, he’s flying over the Throat of the World. That’s I usually where I first summon him, so that he can be as close to the sky as possible.
What can I say ? I’m a romantic :3

Oh, don’t pay too much attention to the background… I kinda spent all my energy in drawing Durnehviir, didn’t have the courage to polish the rest…

The very concept of Durnehviir is pretty badass; he's a phantom dragon. His ability to summon undead soldiers helps, too.

I don't know if it was actually normal, but I think I failed a Dragon Shout when trying to fight him, fooling myself the entire time that I couldn't Shout. Was that a feature, or did I just not press the button the entire time.

I agree, he is seriously awesome. The fact that he basically teaches us two shouts is pretty badass too. It's more than what Paarthurnax teaches us!

Well, concerning your inability to shout, it sometimes happens to me. I think it's just a glitch, but maybe I misunderstood your explanation.

The thing is, I usually try to Shout at an enemy. Sometimes, however, the button on my controller for using the Thu'um doesn't actually press the button on the inside, causing nothing to happen. It might've been that.

Maybe it was, you know your controller better than anyone.
Personally, the game acts as if I am shouting, rendering the use of any word completely impossible during that time, but nothing actually comes out of my DB's mouth. It can last seconds or minutes, sometimes the shout suddenly happens, sometimes it just fades into the Void. It's still a mystery to me.
Far from being a gamebreaker though.

True.

XD! Imagine suddenly shouting in a village for ten minutes!

And the poor Dragonborn trying to tell the villagers and the guards that it's an accident, but the bounty keeps increasing.
