Spyro 1 was probably the first 3D platformer I played. Having grown up with Super Mario World on the SNES, I was constantly getting hopelessly lost in that revolutionary third dimension. I also kept getting slightly unnerved by a certain area in Town Square, which I believed to be haunted. As I stumbled through the level in my ongoing quest to figure out which way was which, I would fairly regularly pass through that spot. And every time, there was that disembodied, creepy laugh coming out of seemingly nowhere. (It did serve as a useful landmark, though!)
Then eventually I got so lost that I ended up on a ledge just above the haunted area, where I found the source of the laugh. Yup, it wasn't a ghost after all - it was some little runt wrapped in blue bandages! And the honorless wretch didn't even try and fight, choosing instead to bolt! I hunted him obsessively for lap after lap, having no idea how - or even if - it was actually possible to capture him. All the while, that pesky third dimension was still playing its tricks on my fine-tuned 2D platforming skills, and I would often run straight off a ledge or miss a jump and have to reverse-engineer the exact series of mistakes that had taken me up to the starting point in the first place.
The problem finally solved itself when I messed up a turn so badly, even the thief's state-of-the-art AI wasn't prepared for it. I (accidentally!) charged headfirst straight into him, realizing only then that he had actually stolen an egg! I had only chased him because he mocked me.
Later, I began relying on the ol' flame breath for thief-catching purposes. It doesn't require me to fully catch up with the thief, I just have to get close enough that he'll still be within flaming distance by the time Spyro can get a good flame ready.
Excellent capture, ZombiDJ, it really brings back the memories!

Still my favorite all time game. I have near 90 hours in Skyrim and 60-some in Just Cause 2, but with all the times I've replayed each game in this series, my game hours in this game has outdone those other two by far

This is my childhood right here. That. Fucking. THIEF. I raged so hard as a kid when I had to catch their asses in Season of Ice and Season of Fire xD But after Attack of the Rhynocs, and you had to complete that Thieve's Academy stage (or whatever it was called), and there were child thieves, they were so frikkin' adorable that I melted and forgave their sins in that moment xD
Very nice, I love the composition of this piece. Where is this set? Looks like Sky Mesa, or some such - I can't remember the names correctly, it's been quite a while xD Ahh, good old Spyro. It's nice to see more art of the pre-reboot games, when his design was smooth and pleasing to the eye. Not any of that 'Skylander' business - I don't hate the franchise, it just feels like serious money-grabbing with little faith towards the actual series.

well this is actually based more of the first three spyro games for the playstation
made by Insomniac, who first started the series.
They came out way before the GBA games and is part of my childhood.
The area they are in is Wizards Peak from the first game "Spyro the Dragon"

I preffer the older games since I grew up with them. i didn't quite enjoy the legend series.
It was pretty unoriginal story wise and way too "epic" to be concidered spyro in my opinion.
The last one even felt like a dragon verison of lord of the rings. Not just because of the fact that Elijah wood voiced spyro but for the whole story concept.
so no sorry I won't draw her, I might draw some more characters from the ps1 games later on though

Tlos is a serious Spyro series. I like it. The original Spyro was just an adventure-based series. I prefer a story with a kind of deep personality, hence why I like tlos. Elijah is good voice for Spyro, if only he could have sounded deeper further in the series.

I remember they were not tje worst parts for me. I actually enjoyed chasing them haha. There were other mini games that frustrated me more. Like that ice hockey game in spyro 3.
