Name: Piroska Ţepeş (A subtle hint of the historical and ethnical duality... or rather diversity.)
Hungary's always cheerful cousin, flatmate of Romania. She still refers to Elizabeta as 'nii-chan'. Is very conservative in regards of habits, thus a little technophobe: she's got only a radio that's apparently turned on 24/7. Unfortunately, she's also very defensive when it comes to lifting relationships to a higher level; best example for that is Mihail, whose proposals were all turned down this far... (53, to be specific) Anyway, they are on good terms, which goes also for Romania's sister, Moldova, who is her best friend. She is only willing to fight, if her daily routine seems to be endangered, btw.

Oh, and she's got a bat named Vlad, who hides in her clothes, or, when possible, her hair.

She also has a... kind of humor that's easy to distinguish. (It actually happened: 2 guys, after debating with a shopkeeper over whether bottled/boxed/whatever milk comes from cows or not, were sent to the old lady next door, claiming they had no milk. When they asked the granny if she had some, she answered, "Look, sonnies, I don't have milk anymore, but let's have a look at the cow." )

After several and quickly changing rulers and their people, she was first estabilished as an actual province in 1003, after the foundation of the Kingdom of Hungary. The local ruler, the voivod /Hungarian: vajda/ was responsible for the Eastern part of the kingdom. After the Battle of Mohács in 1526, Transylvania became part of the Eastern Hungarian Kingdom which became the Principality of Transylvania in 1571- this is also the time she became friends with Moldova and Romania. Though she maintained her autonomity, she was under the suzerainty of the Ottoman Empire. In those times, she tended to switch sides on a whim and very often, showing a surprisingly new face of hers (puberty, lol). In 1867 she was fully reabsorbed into Hungary as a part of the newly established Austro-Hungarian Empire. After WW I, when the Astro-Hungarian Empire fell apart, in 1920, she became a servant of Romania. During WW II, she had a hard time because of the partitions. Hungary's efforts to take her back, however, were futile- she became part of Romania again and had her whole territory back in 1947. She spent the next 50 years with being uneasy because of the relationship between Hungary and Romania. The village destruction in the 1980's left a few scars on her back. Today, she's as alive and kicking as ever.
