I absolutely love that both Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom AND Once Upon a Time had Hades appear in a fine suit. (That is until the former decided to get lame and just have him appear in his regular garb for whatever reason.) So, as you can imagine, when Once had their go, I had to try my hand at drawing a formal Lord of the Dead. I kept the initial SotMK look while making a few modifcations of my own (I.E. the shirt/tie and the burned through bowler hat) while placing him in the OUaT version of the Underworld. Not the background I initially planned on, but I needed something that looked modern while still having a nice lavish touch. So it just kinda happened.
Stupidly enough, not being able to think of a good enough background was the reason why this picture took five years to go from sketch to digital. Which, I suppose, gave me enough practice (but not the patience) to even work on a background. So much for this being a warm-up piece. But in any case. I hope you like this. It ended up being a little more than I intended, but now that it's finally finished, I guess I can't complain too much.
