"How 'bout a bag of beignets and a bowl of gumbo?"
This piece...this freaking piece....is the reason why you haven't seen me around lately. I've been working on this since November...and now for better or for worse, it's finally up.
Those of you who actually bothered to stick around for Season 7 of Once Upon a Time will recognize this stolen concept. So, naturally, since ideas like this are why I love the show so much, I decided to draw it with the original Disney characters...and a bunch of old friends of mine making up the stranger human cast. (I WAS considering subbing them out for other characters, but I needed tourists.)
The initial idea for this was to make it as French as possibe, thus including both Cajun AND Parisian French cuisine. (Especially since I didn't know what OUaT's menu might be at the time.) But as you can see, the New Orleans side has quite a majority...and that isn't even everything I wanted to put on the menu!
There was so much uncertainty that went into this. Drawing the truck with Cinderella, Tiana and the menu items were easy enough...it was deciding what would go ON the menu, WHO would be the customers, changing the dimensions of the whole thing, then wondering how to color it and...that really overwhelms a guy when he has to try and keep pushing back personal deadlines. I was SUPPOSED to have this ready my Mardi Gras, then March, then May....now, since I finally don't know what else to do with it, I'm posting it now.
That's not to say I've given up or abandoned it! I DO consider it finished, I'm just not really sure I can do much else with it as much as I'd like. To put it another way...I bit off a little more than I could chew. ;D
If I had to pick one thing that I'm proud of myself for drawing? It would be the old codfish on the left using his hook has a cupholder.
It's not quite what I imagined, but considering how long it took, I hope you like it.
Toons belong to Disney
Humans belong to...life?
