Was that safety aftermarket or did the Springfield come with it?

Same to you as well brother. Although I'm Buddhist, we still respect the beliefs of others. And that's cool I definitely want a more aggressive safety for my 1911, something I can easily work with just my shooting hand thumb. Also want an ambi safety. I always prefer to have that better option for both hands.

Thanks bro, and its all good!
This is an Ambi safety, It looks very much like a Wilson combat safety. But I am sure Springfield would never use someone else's parts LOL yeah right! It probably is a Wilson!

haha yeah I wouldn't be surprised man. There are more aggressive slide releases for 1911s? Something with a bigger profile so it doesn't take as much effort with using the shooting thumb.

Yeah they have way huge and extended slide releases out there. The one on my TRP is cool, its somewhat bigger, but still flat enough to stay out of the way. I donβt know how much bigger it truly is, but it has a wider checkered area, its very positive against the thumb.

Sounds good to me. It does look bigger than normal ones in the pic.

It might be slightly wider than a GI release.

That makes sense. Is the checkering on the grip standard?

Yep. I did change the mag Release, the one it came with was a bit low, so I put on a Medium height one, works perfect.

You can move the mag release up? How does that work?

ZorinDenu In reply to DarkSamuraiX1999 [2012-04-10 06:42:24 +0000 UTC]
All you do is buy one that is longer. It doesnβt move βUpβ per say but just sticks out a bit farther. However you cay buy some pretty trick ones, like this one [link]

Damn that's trippy. Right I'm considering getting a new beavertail and hammer now, since the more I practice with my 1911 the more I notice how in there the web of my hand is against that smaller tail.

The ACR is mine, now I am just waiting for my tax stamp to go through, probably be a few weeks or up to a month. What sucks is I am so close to getting my dealers lic, but I just went the regular rout again, probably be the last time I have to do this though.
Yeah, I get that feeling of worry when I shoot a GI 1911 sometimes as well

That's awesome man. And what tax stamp? And even more awesome on the dealers license. Now you need a cool store name and some short sleeve blouses with the company name and logo XD
Yeah I started looking at Wilson Combat parts again. What's the difference between drop in beavertail and full fit? And I take it I'm gonna need some work done to the slide if I want a ambi safety put in.

A tax stamp, is an actual stamp on a form you get back when you paperwork has been approved. Here is a link that describes it better [link] The return time varies, I have had forms come back as fast as 6 weeks, then other times it takes as long as 6 months.
A full fit means your frame will need to be modified to fit it. The drop in means no cutting on the frame.
No work needed on the slide for a Ambi, you will have to have the safety fitted though. You can do it yourself, if you go real slow and do it real careful. But remember if you donβt get it right, the gun wont be safe!

lol I know what a tax stamp is but that video was really informative and even amusing. What I was wondering was what the tax stamp was for specifically. Is it for the ACR?
Ah okay so the drop in is my best bet then cool. And yeah I was wondering about the safety cause I noticed the right side of my 1911 slide didn't have that same space as the left side that the safety well gets pushed into.

Yeah the ACR is a SBR, so it has to be transferred into my name. I shot it, and it shoots great. Also while I am waiting for the paperwork I can go down and shoot it anytime I want, I just cant take it home till the form comes back....
The other side is just a lever, it doesnβt lock into anything. It stays in place with a little arm that goes under your grips. When you order grips make sure your order grips that are milled out for Ambi Safeties

Ah okay I forgot SBRs need a tax stamp too. Every time I hear tax stamp I think full auto weapon or suppressor. And I'll keep in mind for grips milled for Ambis. Speaking of grips. I can't really find the grips I'm looking for. Is there a recommended site for having custom grips made?

Those are pretty sweet designs. I dig the Jihad one XD Though I was wondering, well not only do I want my own custom insignia but I also need them to be checkered or at least have a nice rough texture to them so I can have more stable grip over the stock smooth wood grips I have for my 1911.

Just give those guys a call, they have done some sweet grips for me on my βShadowβ 1911. its is deep black powder chrome finish with high polished deep blued trim, and accents. They worked with me with my custom logo and design specs. Just be ready to pay for it! Oh and it may take them a few months to get your grips done. But its so worth it!
I donβt have any pictures of many of my custom guns, due to the fact many of them have my family crest and name in detail displayed. And I donβt need any more fans or stalkers at the moment showing up at the compound LOL

Yeah I'll definitely give them a call when the time and funds allow. I figure they'll cost me but if they're good for you and others. Shit doesn't hurt give it a go. I mean it's custom made for a reason. Of course there is gonna bit of a price to them. I can't blame you for feeling that way about people knowing more personal information about yourself. I'd love to see it though haha. You could always email a small pic XD

I have nothing to hide, but I donβt want someone taking advantage of me either! Been down that road once already. And all I have to say is this. If a girl talks to you for over a year, and the pictures she sent you were not her, and then when you meet and she is shocked you really look like your pictures, thatβs never good LOL

lol here's my two life lessons of the month I've learned so far. Straighten the wheel before you back up the driveway and always drink plenty of water with that pill you're prescribed. I learned the hard way that not enough water leaves the pill in your gullet and it pretty much dissolves in your gullet.

Thank you! Well the gun started life as a standard Springfield TRP, they sell for around 1,300 and some change. I had some custom internal work done to it, but you really donβt have to, the stock gun is nice they way it comes. The grips were about 50 or 60 dollars, the knife is A Spyderco Persistence, part of their economy line, it was only 30 bucks or so.
