Description My initial reaction after watching a few trailers of the upcoming film. Yes, I've read the books and wasn't impressed. Probably won't bother going to see the movie at all.

This is just a stupid idle-time sketch, so I don't care that much if it's ginormously off. I got better stuff coming.
(And I need to draw more of Witch-king of Angmar...)

Okay, first of all, I completely agree with you. I hate Eragon. The books were terrible. But what really made me LOATHE it ENTIRELY was Arya. Though, I'll put a leash on my tongue before it runs away on THAT topic.

I was looking through your gallery, and my goodness you are a fantastic artist! Your style is so unique and so awesome! Just, the way you draw these people, is amazing! What I mean is that everything is so mythic and heroic, and other worldly. Let's just say, I haven't seen any puny people in your gallery yet! Even this picture which is obviously very comical, is drawn fabulously!

I'm going to have to add this to my 's!

Deus tecum! Namarie!

UrGENT WARNING TO ALL ERAGON FANS! Do NOT see Eragon. It sucks dragon ass. When they aren't mutilating the original storyline, they're pelting you with so much cheese that you become lactose intolerant.

I'm trying to get one of my friends to read it for the exact same reason: to see how horrible it is. And especially Eldest. The first part could be considered ten times better than the purple-prosed, Mary Sue -infested torture device called the sequel.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Theophilia In reply to zorm [2008-01-28 23:30:58 +0000 UTC]

Ugh....truly. My cousin also got me to read the book. But he liked it. I didn't. But at least it was a book trade and I did get him to read some books that I liked. ^ ^ Yeah, Eldest was the worst. And it was awkward. And weird. And utterly painful to read. I was SOOOOO happy when I finished. I think the next one is coming out in September. Oh, more torture, he's not even limiting it to a trilogy. He's calling it the "Inheritance Cycle" Honestly, I don't know what for. We all know that Luke, oops, I mean Eragon is going to defeat Galbatorix. If anyone calls those books 'epic' I'll puke.

Uuf, I sometimes really don't know how to word myself in English. x| I did spend three-ish evenings on this, but I mostly meant it's simpler and sketchier in lines than my usual stuff, and I didn't correct it that much. Probably shouldn't type anything when I'm about to go to sleep.

I heard the books were good and was invited to read then.

Then I heard the the author's parents are publishers, and for me that's a good reason to not read a book (I mean, being published only because you're related in a way to the publisher)

And now I'm sure i won't see the movie too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to DeliriousRose [2006-11-26 19:30:16 +0000 UTC]

I read them for the same reason. They were hyped, and I wanted to know what the hullabaloo was all about. First reaction: meh, clichΓ©s and Mary Sues. Then I re-listened to the audio versions recently, because I couldn't remember much anything about the plot and characters. It was sheer torture. You can read some of my analysis here , with excerpts.

You read all those books? I'm impressed. I barely got through the first chapter of the first book before I couldn't choke down any more.
I'm not a fan. >_>

I love the picture, though x3 Poor Ugluk! And I thought ogres, orcs, goblins, and all those critters couldn't possibly be demoted further. ^~

zorm In reply to EmberGryphon [2006-11-27 03:06:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, I took the audio book route as I often do, so it took less time. But they were so majestically boring and purple-prosed, that my ears kept switching themselves off every other minute. The first book could be considered as low-mediocre one-time entertainment, but the sequel is fifty times worse. A major fiesta for clichΓ©s and Mary Sues and tedious descriptions. Avoid like radioactive manatees.

Glad you liked the pic. XD I feel rather sorry for Ugluk myself.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to Totalrandomness [2006-11-27 03:15:04 +0000 UTC]

I read them because they were so hyped and wanted to know what it was all about. I prefer to see a movie/book/whatever myself before passing on judgment. Now that I have a solid opinion about their horribleness, I can recommend everyone to avoid them like carnivorous killer bees.

I'm a big fantasy fan also, but truckloads of clichΓ©s and Mary Sues just aren't my domain.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Totalrandomness In reply to zorm [2006-11-27 03:41:21 +0000 UTC]

I know. I read them because I was a little younger than the writer at the time, and a writing my own stories, I wanted to see what someone my age had to do to get published. But I recall my opinion being that he was trying too hard, you know? A little over the top.
