Is there a place for a
in the world of logic and order? 
This piece evolved much from a simple test-render for the prototype Apophysis version 2.08... Actually it's the only thing I've been working on the past 3 weeks
And almost every night I left my machine rendering it at high-quality, hoping it to be "the final version", and each time on the morning I found a thing or two to improve 
So there was only one way to stop this madness: to finally release it!

Beautifully executed concept. The idea of a mechanistic universe devoid of feeling. A worldview based on cold rationality, a set of laws and processes that imprison us in this reality, with no apparent reason behind it... IS very well symbolised by the crystalline fractal composed of cube shapes... The prison of physical form.
From behind the serrated edges there remains a black void, the eternal mystery. Whose form is formless, it being that which it is not. The surface manifestation of an apparently cold and unloving existence is .. through clever use of negative space, is shown to be the very reflection of love n stuff...
I love the idea of negative space, and forms that are suggested from their surrounding space, rather than any explicitly drawn out shape.

I feel motion and stillness. Its solid and cold by the texture and hues, but also alive through the highlights and diminishing scale of the cubes.
Precious stones radiate the same wonder. What a gem.

Whoah, trippy. Liking the turquoises with the silvers. Goes with your theme of the heart-shaped hole and the coldness associated with the term "heartless."
I especially like the "cube" shapes going on in here. New plugin for 2.08? It looks like a 3D cube, which is something I was hoping somebody would put up in the next version of the 3D hack...
Also, does your term "prototype 2.08" mean the actual 2.08 version, or the 3D hack of said 2.08 version?

the new features of 2.08 are not related to 3D, but after the main release I'm hoping to add them to the 3D hack too...
