Description

I really would like to learn drawing clouds, and this picture is an attempt for that. I still don’t know what is the best and easiest way for me. I tried to use different brushes, and I tried drawing them in a cartoonish way as well. So far I've come to the conclusion that it depends on the situation, wich one works the best. When I draw it in a catoonish way, I feel the result is closer to my taste, but sadly it’s really time consuming (for now, at least). So it seems it won’t be beneficial in my comic projects when I have to finish a page in a limited time. So most of the cases it will be better to use the cartoony style just for single images or in short projects.

By the way, I still have difficulties to “feel” the clouds and to understand their shapes. I feel I still need tons of practice. (Like in so many other things too.) Somehow I really want to be good at this, because something really touches me about clouds There’s something calming and inviting about them.

I used references for the pictures, and I just thought to put my characters enjoying the view on the picture as well

I like this style best, but you're right - it fits the situation is what matters! This is very nice, and practice makes perfect. I love the little dragon, too.

Yup, a lot of practice will need.

I like this one better than the purple cloud one you drew (with happy fat dragon), but to be honest I think it has more to do with the colors.

This one looks sharper, the other looks low res. Again, because of the colors, it's harder to place definition on darker colors than lighter ones. The sky in the purple cloud picture similarly looks lower res, but I am guessing that's because it would have been more from the brushes used; it would have been odd to have the purple clouds below contrast with super sharp lines.

So, again, this one looks better because it looks sharper. In fact, it kinda reminds me of cel-shaded video games or videos, kinda like this one below:

And look! CLOUDS!

I hope it helps, but either way, both pictures are saved on my hard drive, fine work as always!

This piece is my favorite one too, because I always feel confident with cartoonish, sharp lines, and I finished this version faster than the other one. The other picture was good to step out somehow from my comfort zone and use other brushes (because I ALWAYS use the same one or two for everthing)

Wow, such a nice and melancholic music video, thanks!

I'm glad you like these two picture that much!
