J'ai hâte de voir ça, oui. J'étais justement en train de regarder des photos de l'extrémité de la mer de glace, où il y a maintenant deux petits lacs laissés par le recul du glacier..

I've never been in 4000m (I think 3800&co was the highest) ^^
What I said was not a question of altitude: The Mont Blanc du Tacul is particularly dangerous because of all the seracs we have to walk below, which can fall (and fall) at any moment.

I miss it too

did you climb the mountains in the photos then? like vertical climbing (rock climbing kind of ) or tracking...? it looks real hard as you said. but that why you do it sometimes.

Nope, i never climbed the Mont Blanc du Tacul ^^
When I took the photo I was doing mountaineering but in the Arête des Cosmiques [link]
I love being there. Yes, I agree people are sometimes looking for hard mountaineering, but there's a difference between something difficult and something dangerous, I think.. When that's hard, that's because of the altitude, the time you take for, the physical effort,... Here, that's dangerous because it doesn't depend on you, but on the mountain: you can be the best mountain guide in the world, if the serac decides to fall when you're walking under it, you're dead

Did you ever come in french Alps?

korfali In reply to Zwoing [2010-01-17 09:50:50 +0000 UTC]

I went to france but never climbed in there. the alps must be beautiful I can only guess. I only climbed some mountains in Turkey when I was in university, and the best thing was after I climbed and tracked for 4 or five days, when I returned to Istanbul, I endured and liked the city more. (usually it is a nightmare

so how are the alps? (so hard to tell in words probably

I don't know at all the Turkish mountains Are they high?
Haha, yeah that makes a difference with cities, that's why I love it. Being alone on the middle of a glacier with the highest summits of Europe all around, that's a fantastic feeling. I feel myself so tiny there, so.. nothing! That relativizes the daily life and problems.
Especially hard to tell in english I only know the Mont Blanc's massif, that's where I always go. I live next to Paris, so in my point of vue the Alps are a really expatriation. From Chamonix's valley the mountains are gigantic. You are there in the street, 1035m altitude, and when you raise the head you have in front of you the Mont Blanc, 4810m altitude.
There's mountaineering for every level, that's great.

well turkish mountains are not bad I think the most dangerous one and highest is mount agri (translates mountain of pain. so not many people could make it to the summit. there are nice places for rock climbing, valleys and canyons and thats really exiting, especially swinging your legs down the cliff
also the best thing is on the summit previous climbers leave you somethings, like cigars or writings, I used to like that alot.

I looked at your mountain pictures again, and they really make me climb there, or at least paint them. very nice work.looking forward to seeing more.))
