Time to take it down a notch. Finaly, something a little different. Hehehehe, a downshot, no moving objects, no explosions, nobody dying and no destruction.Captain Harlock...one of my favorite characters as a kid, and to this date. He had the emo hair-do before it was cool. Hell, he was the ultimate and first emo dude I know.
Leiji Matsumoto and his creations are probably some of the strongest and earliest animation memories I have.
As usual, please, any suggestions, critiques and etc. will be welcomed! Enjoy!

I dunno, I don't think Harlock was 'Emo', just stoic and reclusive.
And the hairstyle just added to his mysterious air.
But I love this piece. especially Miime in the background!

Harlock was never "emo" to begin with and still isn't. It seems people just say he's emo because of his appearance (ie: his hairstyle), when in actuality, he's a badass space pirate who lives and fights for freedom under the pirate flag and has a way to swoon a couple of the female villains of the series , in order to get him and his crew out of possible danger (which happened once in the original show, from what I recall) (seriously, how does all of this make him emo?).

I wonder who'd win in an emo-out contest. Harlock or Black Jack?
Either way it's a great picture. For Harlock the only drama nessesary is him straight being there.
Dig the composition. My only complaint would maybe be that the color holds on the skulls look a bit uneven. But what the heck.

I'm watching the episodes from the seventies now, (after getting into the Leijiverse through Galaxy Railways) and it's reaalllly interesting!
I must say though, his hair could be a little more stringy. But besides that, I really like it!

Leji was ahead of his time for sure...Harlock not only anticipated the emo movement, he surely served as inspiration for vicious in Cowboy Bebop.
