Nice job! I like how you put a flash of light in the cloud where the lighting is. Several other pics I've seen that have lightning have shown just the bolt, no flashes in the cloud or on the ground.

Heh heh, I bet I tricked you into thinking I was going to leave a "one-word wonder" comment. 
Anyway, down to the business of leaving a comment with at least more than a monosyllabic word.
I love the green, but even more, I LOVE the funky brushstrokes of the tree to the right-hand side. And with the limited palette you've achieved a nice tonal range and sense of depth. Very well done. The lightning/ clouds are also nice.
By the way, do you have a link to a ref/ description of your gryphon char?
