Description Meemai from Baten Kaitos :3

My first attempt at a stuffed animal. Didn't turn out too bad, I guess, but I suck at hidden stitches and sewing on outer parts. Also, I painted the left side worse then the right. But it's still cute! ;_;

I used some cloth leftover from the costume I'm making for Halloween. I used food coloring and white fabric paint for most, with a bit of black fabric paint for the eyes. I stuffed it with strips of fabric instead of stuffing, so that's why it's kinda lumpy. It's about 6" tall.

Took about 5-6 hrs and still needs another white coat on the left side.

This is *wonderful*! I have a weird question...would you happen to have a semblance of the pattern that you used/made, or any advice? I'm making my brother a meemai for his birthday.

I'm afraid I threw away the pattern... however I do have some tips!

-I made the pattern by drawing a profile of a greythorne, and then the pattern for the flippers separate. However, I didn't connect the completed flippers properly--I just kind of hackneydedly sewed a pinch of the inside part of the flippers to the body--and there's probably a better way to do it I'm unaware of.

-Paint the patterns and stuff on and let it dry before sewing it together and stuffing it...the paint job on the plushie now doesn't look as bright and has weird shapes in it because I painted after I sewed & stuffed and used fabric scraps instead of stuffing.

-Make sure when you're making the pattern that you add a border of quarter to a half an inch around the entire pattern so when you sew it it isn't unexpectedly small...

Hope this helps. :)

Thank you so much! Just in time too.

I saw the paint and considered it but, the fabric I got wouldn't hold up to paint well, and I worried it would fade. So I got some fabric in the right colors and bought some double-sided iron-on interfacing to attach it. It's supposed to be permanent so we'll see.

I wouldn't have thought about the quarter-to-half-inch seam allowance because I'm awesomely spazzy like that, thank you! People think that would be common sense but then there are crafters like me...

I'm going to be sitting down and sketching lots and lots of meemai now.

I bought extra fabric, so maybe I should make you a minimeemai when I'm done as a thank-you
