The astronaut approaching the "defective" radio antenna. She was bored silly replacing the part again. So she got HAL to escort her to the antenna via the pod arms. Also this repair had better work as Jupiter was approaching fast and soon it would be not safe for another space ride.Related content

I recall this ebding pretty badly in the film...I hope we get a repeat of HAL tearing out the poor astronaut's air hose
