yeah i did man. bills bills bills
was out of work for a bit too, not fired just took time off. 4 months!
so now that im back, things have changed a bit. i have to get up at 4 am to be to work on time. so its a change. plus i have been doing a lot of thinking because i want to really be sure about my next moves for the coming year. im 36 now, and so far im on the right course, but i need to make sure im going in the proper direction.
plus i have another kid on the way. a bit of a miracle baby actually, since my girl isnt supposed to be fertile and has ovarian problems. so the kid may not make it. but theres a heart beat so far.
that aside, just bursting with creativity. but havent posted anything of course. not ready to until i can devote proper time. also, i have to revamp my webpage a lil bit.
hows things with you? i JUST looked at my page today and see all these new deviations, just finished checking them all out and erasing the ones i could care less about. i have saved ALL of yours because i need to read them
one day it will be a comment explosion on your page haha!
stay well man. im glad youre still around since i consider you a friend.

Grats on the house move first of all, sounds like it went ok.
Your planning on moving again during the year?
Ah congratulations on the baby man. I wish you and your family the best and hope the new one pulls through all the way. If he/she is anything like her/his old man then he/she will have no problem at all.
I know the feeling of bursting with creativity, since i post new stuff regularly, not to say that its all the best, but i have to output anything creative otherwise it'll burn out and i'll lose the idea. I might come up with something similar but it'll never be the original idea.
I'm doing pretty good man, thanks for asking. I'm well, I'm spending some time with a new girl - just seeing where it going at the moment, nothing to serious as of yet. Aside from that it's mostly work up until the 28th where i should be moving house, providing the the rental contract all goes smoothly.
Ah the deviations eh, not all the ones ive posted since you were gone have been good, but its the creative output i need to move onto writing better deviations, so i post it anyway. However i'm glad you'll be looking at them all anyways.
Well, until you fully return i guess i'll await your comments.
Stay safe out there.

Hey man, I dig your page. Nice to see a brotha doing his thing. I am also a writer trapped in an artist's body, or vice versa, or all of the above. We need more writers/artists to make epic tales that need to be told. I won't jump ahead too much, but me, yourself and a few other like-minded individuals like killervisions could really set off a lot in terms of making creative vehicles that the industry hasn't seen and may not be ready for. If you holla back, I appreciate it, if not, keep doing your thing and I got your back. Peace.

thanx for the comment and the watch. always appreciate when people dig my work, and i have so much more left to do i agree with you, i WOULD like to meet more like minded people, and im NOT closed to that by any means. but often, other people just dont have the drive and are very wishy washy. i mean think it comes with the people because creative people tend to create when moved. so it sort of makes for a tough person to deal with in terms of deadlines. so thats why im solo. but im not ALONE by any means
any thing in the future, run it past me. why not?
peace.

Yeah, I feel you. I try to not go a day without writing or drawing, but between marriage, kids, work, etc. I'm almost forced to make myself find the time. That and it's like I'm a jack of all trades, but a master of none. I think I draw pretty well and I write pretty well, but I'm still progressing. Check out my work and let me know what you think. I may be able to do some commision for you if you would be interested in one more artists to add to your arsenal. Thanks for getting back.

thank you for your comments
the comic will be fine as soon as i get settled into getting my house. THAT is the singular reason why i am behind in my posting and my work. i have no shortage of artist to bring my vision to the eyes, but i need to make sure all my finances are in order that way i know how much i have to set aside for them. this is a business that i run and i Always pay on time as long as my work is given on time.
the comic will be web based for a start only because i have VERY limited knowledge of the comic format {writing it} i mostly write stories and scripts and even though a comic isnt far from the script format, i have to make sure it is done correctly so the Artist can understand what i need. plus i am finding it rather difficult to think in "panels" the boxes you see in comics. when i write i see a movie in front of me or at least a cartoon. so cutting that into chunks frustrates me a bit, to the point where i dont think about it sometimes but such is life, doing what you dont feel like doing.
the web comic will be galaxy remixed which i have posted on here tons of times in word form. i will do this in a comic strip form just to get my feet wet. my graphic novel will be my flagship character "Isys". it will be the most cost intensive, BUT it will be part of the pantheon of comic book stories when its done, im sure. it is not my masterpeice, but i have faith that it is as good as or better than a lot of stuff im seeing in the movies.
BTW,your journal is spot on. i have NEVER had a problem getting artist because i have the MONEY to pay them. money DOES talk man. you cant blame them, i mean artist have to eat too. also, your idea may never get anywhere past your house or your webpage, BUT i do NOT create for money. i havent made a dime off of my stories {my tee shirts bring me some revenue though} the point is, i do this because even though i HATE writing, i LOVE the end result. i do this because i have a imagination that i want to show people whether they like it or not. i create because i have a talent for it and i refuse to deny myself by keeping it in my head, cuz then its just dreams. the existence of your dream is the reward man. dont let people or life discourage you from the love of it.
BUT if you just want get rich, then you have to make SURE its an idea that people can use, and then protect it so it doesnt get stolen. also, you will have to appeal to EVERYONE.
thats almost impossible to do,but if you wanna get RICH then thats what you have to do.
i would rather do what i love to do, and if i get rich, then its a bonus. but im already rich as hell cuz i have my health

Thank you for the response it strengthens my resolve. I love what I do. I used to draw , but went back to my passion of writing. Writing brings me a joy that can't be explained. I am not in it to be rich. My goal is just to have a copy of my graphic novel on my desk so I can say I made it happen. Of course a great reception is something I would welcome. I didn't know that the journal made it come off as if I am just trying to get rich cause that is the furthest from what I want. Does my journal comes off as so ?
P.S. The note did give me hope and inspiration and I can never have too much of that so thank you.

Thank you for that. I will admist I have been working on the story and just trying to get concepts done for years now. I do become discouraged quite often. I still continue to write the story because it feels like my baby now and when i stop writing to many ideals flow. It is like the story needs for me to write it. I know it sounds weird , but that is how I feel. I feel a certain type of peace and joy will be achieved once it is done. I ran a cross your page and was taken aback by your characters and story. The characters are quite badass. It gave me hope how you were going after a dream you wanted and I contacted you with hope that the comic has not be given up. I am glad that it is not. Thank you for the kind words as they do help. The money situation is a crazy one and balancing between making a living and your dream is an act that should be seen in a circus. I have found a great artist I have been working with for years now when I have the money and he is just awesome. Now I am searching for a environment artist. I am in high spirits recently as I just got my first donation after someone read one of the short stories for the graphic novel and it enable for me to get more characters drawn.

hey,
thanx for the kind words yet again. im curious as to which characters you liked since i always like to know things like that. praise and crits are always welcome
as i said before, you can ask me for advice anytime, since i have learned quite a bit from the bussiness end of this whole character concepts design thing. fyi: im a character concepts designer, i create characters for liscensing. which is why the more characters i create, the better. im trying to create my own little universe one character at a time your comments let me know im on the right track.
i have so many more characters to go though.....
you've no idea bro.
glad to hear you made some money off of your talent, there's nothing wrong with a little money for doing what you love eh?

I will take you up on that. I understand to a certain degree what you are saying about the characters. I like yourself am not only creating a story , but an entire universe. I have so many character it is not funny. Writing wise I have decided to start off with canon story and then have a short story told by a main character introducing and giving background on characters that will appear in the canon story. After the main story is complete I hope to go back and do stories on some of the characters that appeared in the story. I know most of my characters big or small have a story behind them as when i was little and read comics I would see someone drawn into the background and always wondered what is his/her story. Yeah the donation was most welcomed it got more of my characters drawn.
These are the characters that I seen that intermediately stood out to me.

BROOKLYN73 In reply to killervisions [2009-08-25 21:50:52 +0000 UTC]
hey,
the best thing to do ALWAYS is to take your time and work on each character. let each character flesh itself out in its own time. since you want them to have a life of their own, trust me, they will grow along with you. especially if youre a writer. i have written things years ago, that when i look at them now i absolutely hate them!
you dont want that to happen to your characters. because once they are done, then you better be ok with the results. i have not displayed a single character piece that im disappointed with. each one has been thought about daily. the words, their background, where they fit into the universe. take one of my pieces you linked for example. the words/origin that are written come easy. believe it or not, because i KNOW what the character is, i know what they can do.
the photoshop work is also a bit annoying at times{remember, the artist just draws and paints the picture. everything else is me} but the hardest part is thinking of the pose that best represents the character. i am proud that when it comes to these poses, i have life as a inspiration for each one. one day, when i have a LOT more character peices i will show people the inspiration for each piece as it might surprise people.
so i am mostly saying, that building a character universe is best done one at a time. , even if its just a story driven universe, let it come to you with inspiration. i have written every story i have on just one theme, sometimes one saying, or one fact of life.
that is the strength of inspiration, when you an take one sentence and turn it into a 24 page, 7000 word story that flows so much that you dont have time for spell check. the finish is the reward.
the saga of galaxy remixed started as a story to span no more than 25 stories, a cartoon. but i had so much fun writing it that i never intend to end it. there is an end story, already written, but will it see the light of day? i think it will...but it will have no lasting effect. the adventures are too much fun for me to read.
{try to give one a read one day and you will see my writing style is descriptive and different. a mixture of movie script/director}
so i know all about what writing does for you. keep doing it even though its no fun to actually type. and take your time and go through the MANY shitty artist you may run into before you find one that you can depend{ NOT a common thing} and one that can bring your vision out exactly as you want it. even if it cost you 140 dollars a pop or more {the most i have paid is 300} the end MUST be worth the money. so make sure you find that artist or 2 that works for you. and once you get that first professionally done character, post it on your wall or your desktop computer, you will get the bug.
"one down and 40 maybe 100 more to go"
its up to you in the end bro.
peace

Thank you so much for this reply it is quite inspiring for me. I am going to print it and keep it. It seems we have much in common and I am rooting for you very much. I have luckily found an artist that handles my characters well , he draws them as if he himself created the character. I find it really amazing. I have a folder in which I print out all of my characters and when I do not feel like writing just looking at my characters gives me more inspiration to write. My story does the same way. It has an end , but the end of the story doesn't mean the end of the universe and though many character lives are ended or changed it enables for background characters to become stars. I want to thank you for the advice on taking time to create stories for each character. This is something I am going to incorporate. Wow what an awesome and inspiration conversation this end up being.

this how you wanna play?
HE SPEAKS TO THE DARKNESS LOOKING IN EVERY DIRECTION. A SMALL BUZZING PICKS UP FROM THE CORRIDOR AND SLOWLY RISES IN VOLUME. GRIS GRIS LETS LOOSE A FIERCE ROAR.

Many things are important, some more than others. But its an order thats not entirely decided by me, even though im the one making the choices.
Many things that can break me in two are happening, and yet no matter how many other people things involve, i still seem to be the one making the choices. The choices that arent even decided by me. It would seem life has thrown me a blind hand, and has dared me to take it over my current safe hand.
It promises a win, amidst the thoughts of failure... and yet, it could be, so easily, a trick.
I hate the idea that im not in control of my own destiny... creating fate for myself, but someone, somewhere is definantly forcing choices upon me.
