Welcome to my page!I’m an illustrator in his twenties who was born and raised in the Ottawa/Gatineau area of Canada. After receiving a BSc in Environment and working in a small office for a couple years, I decided to switch gears and devote myself to what has always been my true passion: art.

Hey thanks for the compliment! Akira is a huge inspiration for me; I was thinking of the akira "coffin" for the techno ritual design, but I couldn't find any photos of it - so thanks for that! I'll post it when I get a chance to finish the shading - I've been focusing on wrapping up my paid projects.

Yup, I was talking about that. Where it says Channel, change it to red, blue or green. Then, evenly set out maybe 5 points on the line. Next, move them around a tiny bit up and down and see how you like the results. You need to be really careful, because your values also get changed, so use Curves diligently. I don't fully understand how it works, so I kind of just experiment. You'll get a feel for it. Because the values are changed, I find that I often have to paint over certain bits again.

So what had happened is that Summer semester started this week, and I usually have Summer classes, but I decided to take a break (because you do not have to take Summer classes; they cost extra money), BUT I HAVE NEVER TAKEN A BREAK. So now, I am on edge, and I keep looking behind me like a police officer is going to come to take my license and freedom/integrity away because I decided to take a break.
The last time I took a break was the year after high school ended, and even then, during that Summer, I just volunteered in the hospital 16 hours a week. They would not let me volunteer more.

Haha oh boy. It's funny, you sound exactly like my sister and my mom and I. Them especially. Here's how you enjoy your break: go outside, sit in the sun, bring a book or a comic, maybe some beer, maybe a sketchbook, and just chilllll. After a few days your brain will adjust to not being in busy mode. I know the feeling though, personally, I often use my free time as a chance to catch up on personal art stuff, which is kind of silly considering that's what I already do all day. Let me know how it goes, k?

My final opinion is that you should try Ptreon. It's up to you if you have time for it or not but I think you can get some fans. One of my friends liked your art, especially as a SF fan. Even if you don't do much and feel it's not your time to do it yet you can at least check it out and come back to it later when you feel ready. That's what I did with Unity Asset Store, for now I just have to know how and that it works; I'm doing things one step at a time unfortunately.
Edit: As constructive criticism and personal opinion I still think you need to refine something about your shading/ coloring technique. I have a feeling your still in experimental phase and you're not really satisfied with something, I got the same issue here. Darn those brushes! I feel you also need to try focusing some details or stronger colors on a point so it's not that evenly spread, same problem for me again. In general it's above average and your line art is really awesome, just try to take your coloring at the same level or above. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback man. I definitely still feel like I'm in a learning phase (although the learning never ends for anyone). The little fantasy portraits have let me experiment a lot of with light colour, composition, and anatomy, but I haven't had much of a chance to put those skills to the test with some larger full colour work. I've also been wanting to revamp my older work for a long time now. I've come a long way since even last November, so all I see when I look at my old work is the flaws. I DO however still really like the concepts and compositions, so I want to still be able to use them in my portfolio, which means revamping them. You know how it is with this work, you're never satisfied, because you spend so much time looking at awesome work from really experienced artists. A bit of a little known secret about me is that I've only been painting in colour for about a year and a half... Growing up I was into drawing, but I was never taught how to paint properly. The art classes in this country are such a joke, even when I did some nighttime classes outside of school (when I was younger). Arghghg so much to learn!
