Eventually real life kills us all so better have fun while it lasts.

Got a new gaming rig few months ago and downloaded the newer 2015 edition. Should test it but not feeling too kaleunish right now and there seems to be yet another edition for 2017 coming so we'll see if the 2015 gets tested at all but at least the quite ridiculous hardware requirements originally for a 2005 game are not an issue anymore.

"Edition 2015 has about 450 active game units, compared to nearly 340 in Edition 2010 or only 62 in the original game."

There seems to be huge amount of content though to back up the requirements. Will drop comments if i find time/mood to test 2015. At least i know that 2010 is damn good and works with slower machines too.

Hang in there bro, far too many good games in this world to drop out just yet.

That sounds excellent. To be honest, I'm less about the North Atlantic than I am about the Pacific. I love Silent Hunter 4, but I really wish there were more accurate models for the opposition ships. I keep checking Subsim, but again...time issues.

Haven't played that one at all, i guess there should be some good mega mods for that as well. As a Japanese sub commander, i would love to revisit those familiar, wet battlefields but since the American side is so played, starting from the first Silent Service, it is very worn out for me.

Legendary German subs and other equipment were at the top of the line so the charisma is there and they offer most welcome change to the all too familiar pro - allied theme. I would love to have the modern Red storm rising though, especially if it would be playable on both sides.

Actually, now that i think about it, the makers of Atlantic fleet did mention that they have a new project very similar to that. Could be yummy.

In SH4 you play a US sub commander. You can start out in '41 in those tiny, underpowered and under armed "S" class boats and work your way up to a nice shiny Balao class. If you live that long, that is.

Not really. I crank it up as high as I can get, but leave specialty tasks to the AI sailors. A commander's task is to have a complete understanding of the tactical and strategic situation, not load torpedos. But I do love all the intricacies of it all.

Oh but the crew does the loading, herr kaleun just gives the orders to load. Also there is some kind of auto - reload option if my memory serves me correctly. Have a great weekend bro.

Yep, but that doesn't always load the fish you want. If you want to fire a pattern-runner, you need to load that specifically, or SH III just loads the next in queue. I really like the acoustics. Run in between some DDs...get 'em all riled up. Cut loose a couple of sonar homing...dive deep and enjoy the carnage.

Thank you for getting me started on this walk thru their world. I know that the path that I shared with you was a lot more thorns than roses, but despite that, I still think it's the best thing I've ever written. And the hardest. And I have to say again..."Amethyst Tears"....Ow. Just that great beautiful "ow"...

 

But the best part....knowing that their story is still being told. Somewhere.
