Already over 33 deg C! It's a typical sweltering MidwestΒ Kansas summer already. Hope everything is working out there? New job and everything? Still trying to write.....but it's damn hard. I can crap out a chapter.....but that's just it. It will be crap. I'm on my 3rd re-write now. Hopefully, it'll be worth the wait.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TimoGuenther In reply to Magick205 [2017-06-16 05:44:23 +0000 UTC]

That sounds like a hot summer. 33 degree C would be too warm for me already. I prefer something around 20-25Β°. Yeah, I'm a winter child, I guess, lol. Job and stuff are okay. Things are slow at the moment; not much pressure, and in about two weeks I will have my summer vacation. Compared to the trouble during winter, I'm positively surprised about how well things are going right now. How are things on your side? I bet you gained a lot of new scientific knowledge at work, no? And don't worry about the writing. Take all the time you need. Better than pushing something out that does not satisfy you. I'm certain it will be worth the wait. It always was, so why should it not be this time?

Well, I finally have my degree. So, yay me. But now I have to pay it all off. - sigh -

A nation that does not invest in education deserves what happens to it. But I am very excited to know that in some small way (very small actually), I'm helping the cause of public health worldwide. I might never be famous, much less rich. But I do know that my life will have had a positive impact overall. So, yeah. I'm pretty content right now. For me, it's like I'm on vacationΒ even when I'm at work. And speaking of....I hope you have a great one this summer. Get out of town, away from crazy people for awhile. Just simply BE.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TimoGuenther In reply to Magick205 [2017-06-19 07:30:31 +0000 UTC]

Have your degree? That's great news! Congratulations, Dan
So, I'm gonna call you a doctor of scientific science now.

It sounds exciting to be part of public health care. And we all know that even the smallest cogwheel is needed to keep the machinery running. Good to hear that you found a role to fulfill. It must be an awesome feeling to go to work and consider it to be more than just that.

Oh, don't worry. My vacation will be used for a good cause, so to speak. I will move a few streets to a different apartment. The landlord of my apartment declared that he needs it for his daughter. Over here, landlords can't kick you out easily (as long as you don't commit stupid things or crimes). But an owner can declare that an apartment is needed for a member of their family. Then you have to go immediately without negotiations. So I will use my two weeks of vacation and get my stuff to another place to live. It is just a few streets away so that the movement will be very easy. And I assume that there will still be some time to relax a bit after the change.

It's just slow getting back into gear. A sentence here and there. Re-read the paragraph. Realize it's utter bollocks.

Start over.

Yeesh. It was so easy at one time. Now it's really hard catching that spark again. I know what I want to say in the story.....just not how to say it.

Oh, I know that feeling. It haunted me all winter, during the dark time of the year. Geez, I was not able to get anything done. Quite passive and silent. But now, the fire's coming back slowly, and I'm pretty sure that your sparks will glow again, too. It just is a matter of time. Here is hope that it will not take as long as it took for me.

A Little bit more than that. She died hard as I was arriving at work. I had just enough momentum to roll safely into the parking lot and out of traffic. The good thing is that I knew what this was. Timing belt. Far past the change interval. Did you ever see the movie "The Ring"? What the drowned kid's hair looked like? Yeah, that was the remains of the belt. Good thing that I had already bought one and a new idler pulley and spring. I knew that this was coming but just didn't have the downtime to fix her...till I no longer had a choice. Just glad it was after the move. Five hours of work and she roared back to life.

HyenaTig In reply to Magick205 [2017-05-17 13:54:00 +0000 UTC]

Oh boy, the timing belt?
If this thing rips apart on my engine, it will kill the valves and most likely the cylinder heads.
Interval for mine is every 5 years or 50.000km (~32.000miles)
Β

Hope you'll have your baby fixed soon!

Yeah, an interference engine like you have, and my wife's Del Sol is a real disaster waiting to happen. Gotta stay on top of that. My next trick is to do a brake pad replacement on the rear drums. Never done it before, but this IΒ have time for.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HyenaTig In reply to Magick205 [2017-05-21 16:19:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh my, I have to clue how to do the pads on a drum brake!
I sure is more complicated than discs, but I don't think it would be too hard! Gotta keep trying!

And yeah, the Del Sol is still quite famous over here. I dunno - liked the normal CRX much more~.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Magick205 In reply to HyenaTig [2017-05-21 16:39:43 +0000 UTC]
