The one I saw was using the generic Halloween costume, and had a drawn on beard. lol So I'm not sure if that's the one you saw too
I saw pics of one of the Hatters, he had an Alice with her (I think in the traditional Alice costume)
But yea, hopefully next year! Maybe I will have a Sweeney with me if I can convince one of my friends to borrow my costume (or maybe I'll make them be Jack Sparrow lol just to add to the Depp cosplayers there) xD

oh college will be way better. and really, depending on what you are going for, the work won't be so bad. getting general education classes out of the way might be a pain though.

XDDDD Oh gosh, I didn't get close enough to tell if the beard was drawn on. the image of that is quite funny. and yeah, halloween costumes are not acceptable. from what I saw of the hatter, the costume wasn't very elaborate, but it was pretty good. I only really saw him in passing too. I was confused though because it was the new hatter with the old Alice.
and having more depps is always great. I will of course be going as Willy Wonka frequently. I considered getting the actually leather purple gloves, but they would be expensive and hot, and the outfit is extremely hot as it is.

unfortunately, I will not be going this year. I REALLY tried, and it really sucks that I can't go, but all of my people bailed on me, and money is SUPER scarce right now (plus Otakon is crazy expensive). I am REALLY upset about it. but there is nothing I can do. so hopefully to make up for it, I will be attending another convention at some point later in the year when I have money. you know, to make up for it. XP and I hope to attend Otakon next year because I HAVE to go to it.
I am sorry about that. I really wanted to meet up. BUT WE WILL MEET AGAIN! how often do you attend conventions?

I currently go to around 4-5 cons per year. Basically any cons within 4hrs of NJ are open for me to go to. So I attend Otakon, Connecticon, AnimeNEXT, Anime Boston, and NY Comic Con every year. Although, this year I won't go to Connecticon. And when I go to college in Boston most likely I'll only go to NYCC, PAX East, Boston Comic Con, Anime Boston, and maybe Otakon during the summer.

I agree, halloween costumes do not make cosplays. most of the halloween costumes aren't even that good anyway. if you want it to be REALLY accurate, you are better off just trying to make it or edit it yourself.

I have been trying to get a pair of leather gloves. The another main problem is, aside from them being hot, that leather and leather-like gloves are also expensive. I am more than willing to dish out some cash, just not a whole lot. also, I am not sure if I should order inline or try and find a place nearby that sells them. (which would be a difficult task ) I am not really sure how a pair I bought online would fit. these gloves need to look pretty tight. and yeah, Jack Sparrow will also be VERY hot. XP

wow, thats a good amount of cons. For many years I attended only one con a year. but this year, I did two. Next year I hope to do three or four. I almost always attend Animenext, I attend Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh, and I hope to attend NY Comic Con, Katsucon, Otakon, and Colossalcon at some point either this coming year or the year after. I would love to attend AnimeBoston at some point too, since a friend of mine is also going to school down there.

I think you should try to find a store that sells them. That way you can try them on and make sure that they really fit the way that they are supposed to. I think if Willy Wonka is a cosplay that you do often, it wouldn't be so bad to pay $20-70 for the gloves. I pay insane amounts of money for such small parts on my costumes (the small mermaid fertility charm on Jack Sparrow's belt cost me $45)

I go to NYCC every year, since it's so easy to get into the city from my house. I love that con. Hopefully I will have my OST updates for that con this year.

so how are you? I feel like it has been so long since we last talked. Since the summer I believe. You went to Otakon, right? How was it? since I missed it this year, I am DEFINITELY planning on going next year.

and I hear good things about Emerson. Plus Boston is a beautiful place. I have only been there once, and I think I told you that my cousin goes there now (he goes to suffolk university), so I plan on visiting it more often because it is so pretty.

Yeah, I have decided to put in the extra cash. The first thing I plan on doing is getting a custom top hat. I FINALLY found these people online who make top hats, and I am already working with them so they can make me a custom fit actual top hat (that of course will look exactly like Willy Wonka's ) I thought about making one myself, but I wanted an actual top hat made by an actual top hat company for it. then yeah, I will also probably put in the extra money for the gloves. Still looking around for people who sell those though.

We definitely should meet up at Tekko again, or maybe another con or something. It's nice to see other depp cosplayers.

And Colossalcon is in Ohio. It is in an indoor water park (which you get weekend passes to if you book certain hotels) and less than 10 minutes away from cedar point, which is an AMAZING amusement park. The only problem is that it is the same weekend as Animenext, so I would have to choose between them.
and one day I would love to go to Katsucon, but not for a while. I want to have an AMAZING cosplay when I go, and I can't put in the time to make one right yet. I only have time to improve the ones I already have.

It has been a long time. lolz. Yea since before Otakon. Otakon was awesome! I had a great time, it was soooo hot in Baltimore though, but still very fun. I may not make it to next year's Otakon... depends on what happens with SDCC. If I go to SDCC then I will probably only go to that and Dragon*Con next year.

Boston is a great city and very convenient. The train system here is so easy to navigate

That's awesome! I hope you post pics of it once you get it. Getting an actual top hat would be perfect for your Wonka cosplay. It just seems difficult to get a company to make the hat to your exact specifications and get it screen accurate, but as long as the company is patient and good with noticing details then that shouldn't be too difficult

There are so few Depp cosplayers. It's really sad. Lots of Jack Sparrow impersonators, but I honestly don't even count them because they're kinda everywhere.

Cedar Point is awesome!!!!! I went there last year before Otakon... Basically we drove out to Cedar Point, stayed there for 3 days, then drove to Otakon. It was the most epic week of my life. lola

What cosplay would you do for Katsucon? I hope for this year's Anime Boston I will have Barnabas Collins done... still gotta update my CJS to OST though, so we'll see how much I can get done before then

Glad Otakon was awesome. I hope to go to it next year, though this depends on a lot of things. Like money and internships and such. How many cons do you plan on attending in 2013? I can't remember.

Yeah, I hear it is pretty easy to navigate. And very beautiful. And yeah, I would definitely let you know. Meeting up would be awesome. Now I know you plan on going to Emerson, but do you currently live close to Boston? I will be visiting Boston fall of next year for sure, but I might also visit in the spring, though I am not certain. If I do, we could meet up then as well. And it's great that Emerson is so near to Suffolk. How far away are those colleges from Otakon and Anime Boston? I imagine Anime Boston to only be, like, a block away.

I will, it will just take me time to get it. They seem to really have an eye for detail, and I am only going to pay for half of it at first. Once they show me a picture of the completed product, then I can pay the other half, which is nice. They seem very serious about it too. They already asked for head circumference and height measurements, which I was going to give them anyway, but I am glad they asked.

Yeah, I agree. I have seen enough Jacks to kill a person. And I am sure you have too. But seriously, if we both go to animenext this year (if being the key word, but still), we should definitely try to get a Depp group together. Not sure yet. I plan on finishing my San from Princess Mononoke cosplay within the next few months. I also plan on cosplaying Shion from the anime No. 6, even though it's a SUPER simple cosplay.
Still, it will be fun because I will have my cosplay buddy with me as the other main character, Rat.
My most difficult future cosplay is going to be a weeping angel from Doctor Who. I haven't even started yet, and I am not sure I will even have it done within the year.

and Barnabas? That would be awesome. Depp is quite dashing in that movie. What do you plan on having done for your next con? Or will Barnabas take up most of the time?

Currently I have 11 cons that I plan to go to this year. I just went to like 3 cons within the past month because there are so many cons up near MA and they are all super easy to get to by train. haha

I don't live in Boston normally. Only during college. My house is still in NJ, half an hour away from AnimeNEXT. If you visit in the fall next year, we can definitely meet up! And maybe go to a cosplay meet, because there are always cosplay gatherings in the Boston Commons across the street from my dorm.
Emerson is super far from Otakon cuz Otakon is in Baltimore, MD. But that doesn't matter because I'm in NJ during the summer, but Anime Boston is literally only like 3 train stops away from my college. It's down at the Prudential Center and I go to that center like every week. lol

Oh that's awesome! The person who did my Sweeney Todd coat worked like that. You don't pay the final price until you are satisfied with the product. That sounds like a good situation there, I hope it turns out the way you expected it. So you sent out the first payment already? How long do you think it will take for them to make the hat?

It does! The coasters there are really awesome. Cedar Point has this really tall roller coaster, the first drop is 240ft, Millennium Force I think it's called.

Oh, I've seen a couple people cosplay that before. I don't see so many now, but there were a good number of San cosplayers at cons a year or so ago. I've never heard of that anime before, but saw some pics on Google, and the cosplay doesn't look too difficult to do. You should be able to get both of those done before Katsucon

OMG You're gonna do a weeping angel cosplay? That's gonna be awesome! I've seen a couple of those at recent cons, that is a super hard costume, and doing the makeup for that costume seems difficult too. Similar to the Homestuck makeup, painting yourself gray and all lol
