I learned later that I was talking to people who weren't really interested in doing what I do, they weren't really sure themselves, so my critique no matter how helpful was mostly just falling on uninterested ears. I came off as an asshole and rightfully so, I was assuming people were into illustration work like me.

Very cool stuff.  I love the abstract background and the color choices.  Very dramatic positions for the characters.

Thank you! I usually listen to something that corresponds more with the mood I'm going for, but it can range from Alfred Schnittke's concertos, Noisia's electronic music, the Dear Hunter's cool symphonic rock concept albums, bands like Number 12 Looks Like you, or Tor Lundvall's ambient music or experimental black and not so much black metal bands like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum or Enslaved or all kinds of things.

I feel like I know Schnittke.  Did he do a memorial piece for the Holocaust?  Anyway, nice on the Number 12, very nice on the Noisia, and ultra nice on the Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.  My ex showed me them a while ago and I totally forgot how much I like that group.  Gonna get an album of theirs now...

And given those influences, yeah, I see how that shows through in your work, that certain cold distance.
