The teacher in question knows where I stand and ..um.. that I have saved copies of her emails to me in which she pretty much admitted she did a big no no and that I also have the principle's email ready to go. I'm evil I know but it's my kid and I get a warm fuzzy now when I think about it.

I read your journal posting and think it is commendable that you have already instilled in your son so many important qualities that he will need as an adult. Every time I have been faced with ignorance or prejudice, I try to look at it as a way of teaching someone that there isn't only one way of looking at things, or to assess each person on their own merits. It sucks that a teenager has to face this from teachers no less. I hope things work out for your family!

And thank you for your words of advice. You are right, of course. I should look on this as an opportunity to educate. I'm just a little tired of having to do this with teachers. You are also right in that it is a shame my son has to put up with it, but I guess it's practice for the adult world in which he will one day have to cope. Blah!
