i. idiot. she couldn't even count on her fingers how many times he'd had gotten himself knee-deep in bullshit. too many times-- & maybe if she arrived any second later, he'd be a pile of ash. it would have been a sight to see; considering the amount of trials of stupidity he had put her through. maybe a weight would have been lifted, but she knew that was a lie. she would have cried. rick, the only person who pushed her terribly out of her comfort zone: & that says a lot, considering events prior. they used to be-- 'partners in crime.' who got too carried away with their feelings, leading to their relationship's ultimate downfall.

ii. but, here she was, years later; her expression unreadable, yet drawn into distaste as she propped her foot on the ground beneath her-- both hands on the bars of her self-proclaimed baby. 'roxanne.' 
he was an idiot. & she didn't understand why she was still helping him. she was trying to patch up old wounds, i suppose-- after that night they crossed paths after years, & the air around them was still tense. their trust in each other had waned, & that was a given, especially after he up & left on that particular night. she forgave, but she didn't forget. 
he owed her so many apologies. & a shit ton of favors, too.
