I've a confession to make. I failed to style the wig similar to Kaito's (Imitation Black) hair. The back was too long and the front bangs were eating my face.

XDDDD I did notice it was long in the back---but actually, it really did look good! Even if it wasn't exactly like the style in the PV, I think you pulled it off better @_@ bagay kaya!

don't worry I had the same dilemma with my Len wig that day also. I get what you feel XD Lovelessxxx Len HAS to have his hair parted to the right, and I had to keep sweeping the bangs every five seconds XD but the middle-bangs would just stick to my nose, and tuloy...in some pictures, I look duling @_______@

I don't know, sometimes I just feel that accuracy will be the last say of any cosplay. Not only would it look good, but it'll also give the due respect to the character. *Shrugs*

Now I realize the importance of hairspray. Spraying the bangs and the topmost part of the wig will hold everything in place, I guess. But not too much hairspray as it'll be hard to wash off after you use it and it may damage the fibers.

True, though. It IS sometimes a conflict between adding/modifying/removing stuff from the actual costume to make it look nicer..and getting it completely accurate D: I agree it would give justice to the character and the person who designed it, too...but at least, i think, it's really up to the cosplayer. it's all about creativity, too after all ^^ just an opinion though :'D

Hahaha oh gosh yes, thanks for the advice ^^ We were GOING to use hairspray. I prepared the can for my group to use, but on the day itself, BEHOLD! it was empty. *shot*
My gakupo, though, used Silicon spray, so his wig was really really smooth, silky and shiny like in those sunsilk hair commercials XD I used a little bit of it...I guess it gave the opposite effect of what hairspray is supposed to do, since normally my len wig would be so easy to part and style and have his banana-spikes stand up. at least...without the silicon spray XD

I like the character design of Kaito in Imitation Black. It looks simple yet when you wear it you'd feel so eccentric. LOL!! And yes, I know what you mean that cosplayers are given freedom to do what modifications they want with a character so long as they don't go too far with it. I just decided to stick with the original design (except for the hairstyle), 'cause I know myself too much. If I spoil myself once, it'll be a habit of mine and may affect my upcoming cosplays.

My personal taste with the outcome of the wig will be for it look less shiny and more matte. Even in places with less lighting, the wig would still look as if it's your own hair when someone takes a picture of you. But there's also an alternative. Instead of hairspraying a fistful of hair from the wig, you can just apply mousse at the tip of the bangs/spikes for it to stay in place.

Yes!! I really love particularly his and Gakupo's in every Banan'ice video~ I think Natsu-P really knows how to make the simplest of designs stand out with just the right amount of eccentricity-and awesomeness XD. Spoiled? hahaha XD I guess when you put it that way, it's cool to go with the flow ^^ modifying TOO much really would be kinda ...strange, to say the least >.>

I see what you mean. too shiny will look very low-quality and possibly neon in certain lighting...with flash photography, especially. At least, Gakupo needed the silicon spray just to keep the wig tame--since Gakupo in the Loveless PV had his hair down, we were just taking the precautions to help him take care of the wig. I should've used mousse, since I had a shorter wig which was tied Gosh, we were rushing the preparation too much that we didn't think of alternatives! thank you! >_< I'll have that mousse can ready next time @A@

That is why I am so intrigued by their designs. Each design is heavily distinctive to the other song. And I'm quite thankful that the illustrator, haru-aki, drew them in such a way.

Wigs tend to be not too cooperative with how you set it, so I can definitely see why silicone hairspray is a good choice.

We were also rushing our asses off for this event. We didn't have enough sleep, but luckily we still enjoyed ourselves despit that.

Oh ! my bad. XD Haru-aki was the illustrator. And yes...I see some really small connection with each song actually...it's like all of them are different stories, but at least if you look at them as a whole it seems to tell one whole story altogether @_@ their designs in each of them are both appropriate for the songs' themes but also quite avant-garde too! which is really just... just awesome @_@

I don't think i really have to wonder how many people had less than 5 hours of sleep before the con XD you know the thing...you tell yourself weeks before the con day that you'll "be completely ready and so-not-flustered by 8am" and then things go weird and awry , making you leave at like...noon XD but yeah, I'm really glad everyone (or at least, most of the attendees) was able to enjoy, despite the storm pa naman!

If you'll see each design is different save for one thing...the rose on their costumes. From their first album, Imitation Black, they have red roses attached as part of the ensemble. For their second album, Blue Rose, they have blue roses (duh!). There's just something about Vanan'ice that makes you want to cosplay each version. But alas, most of theses versions are complicated.

I had it the toughest, I think. I live somewhere in the south and I've to help out friends who live in Manila along with preparing what I needed for the event. So what happens is I leave their pleace early, go home, prepare, then get to the event late. *Sigh*

so I wasn't the only one who noticed that XD Roses really are symbolic for the three of them, at least in the Vanan'ice series. s'all about love on the surface, but there really is more! blue roses, which were used in Arrest rose and Lovelessxxx, symbolize "impossibility"...so the symbolism in relevance to the songs (the former of which is a song of sheer loss, and the latter, a story of true love that could never be) is really cool *_* ~SpiralofDeath , my kaito and I are planning to cosplay every Vanan'ice version. (hopefully I can pull off arrest rose len-who's really bishie-...since i'm more suited for the moe types...lol!)

Oh my ;A; that's why i saw you in the con at such a late hour >_< hope nothing too undesirable happened >___< what a hassle ;A; at least you did have fun! We did the same thing, but with regards to the distance, it was different... Kaito slept over at my place the night before(which is in Katipunan) and ~SpiralofDeath is in mandaluyong and would not be permitted to sleep here. the game plan was supposed to be that Gakupo comes here as early as possible so we could eat and prepare altogether, and we were supposed to leave at 8am with a private car. But ALL of us had less than 3 hours of sleep so we couldn't blame Gakupo for being late...he commutes going to my place pa kasi eh >_< we were SUPPOSED to use swords (which were the reasons for our few hours of sleep) but due to a lack of spraypaint we didn't even get to use them ._. we were flustered preparing. we got to the con at noon, but good thing it was completely traffic-less... >_< if it weren't that way...we would've arrived after lunch @A@

Makes me wonder how the other con-day-dilemmas go for others *,*

Hopefully, me and my friend get to cosplay a lot of the Vanan'ice PVs if not all. We're working on the Imitation Black PVs first before we move on to Blue Rose. But it may take some time though. *Sigh*

I actually envy friends who already are prepared with their costumes and props some days before the event. Us on the other hand have too much time with playing games that we procrastinate on preparations.
