Here is what I wrote in my deviantART journal after reading Twilight on December 17th...
I read Twilight, and honestly, I do not understand the mass raving about it. On the cover of Twilight, the guy who plays Edward isn't even all beautiful like he's supposed to be, and I think he's really ugly. I mean, he looks CREEPY. I thought he was supposed to be pale but gorgeous. Sure. My main problems with this series are:
~Lack of an interesting plot
~Lack of characterization
~The fact that Edward seems like a pedophile
~The fact that Edward seems like a stalker
~The fact that one part of Edward is always desiring for Bella's blood
~The fact that Bella wishes to die and become a vampire
~The fact that Meyer has completely screwed up the concept of vampires... I mean, vampires do not: sparkle, eat animals and call themselves vegetarian.
~The fact that the technical details are so screwed up: won't the Cullens have to move because they live forever, and won't somebody kind of NOTICE that...?
~The fact that the book was an extraordinarily easy read, mainly because it was a horrible book
~The fact that it delusions girls into thinking they can find their soulmate instantly and at the age of 17
~The discrepancy that Bella almost faints at the sight of blood but... wants to be a vampire? What?
I only read Twilight, not the rest of them but I heard that she has a baby at age 18 and that it EATS ITS WAY OUT OF HER!!! IT'S SICK!!!
~And listen. I have probably read about a 1,000 books and I have learned to tell the difference between GOOD BOOKS and BAD BOOKS.
And look, I'm not looking to offend you guys, but I'm allowed to express MY opinion. If you hate me because of it, then at least I can live with it knowing I spoke my mind and didn't remain mute. This is a free country, guys. I believe firmly that Stephanie Meyer's writing cannot be called literature. Seriously, visit Persnicketese's deviation: [link]

Well, I quite liked the series. You know, that's not the original Twilight cover, and YES!! HE IS SOOO UGLY!!
I'm sorry to say I don't agree with most of your points, though I can see where you're coming from. 
I don't think Bella really wants to die. That's a little overstated. XD She just wants to be put on pause, and frankly, I don't blame her. Who doesn't want to leave the troubles of society and day-to-day life behind once in awhile?
I actually quite like Meyer's "screwed up" vampires- it makes them more real, giving up the feeling that we can relate to them- their struggles with "vegetarianism" and such. I've always wanted to believe there weren't just bad vampires out there, and if you do, well, there's always James and the Volturi keeping the whole "vampire" aspect more old-fashioned.
Oh dear, here come the technical points. XD (I'm going piece by piece here.) Yes, the Cullens do move often, but they have ways to cover themselves up- you have to read the entire series to understand this completely.
I do agree that the book was an easy read- but for me it was because I was hooked, and I couldn't put it down!
Here is where I disagree the most though... Every girl wants to meet a guy who loves her and appreciates her for what she is. I don't think Meyer's book is going to change that much. I mean, really, what girl is going to go, "Bella can do it! So can I!" because a fictional book character found "true love." I mean, cliche!
This part made me laugh. Quite a contradiction, no?
Hmm. Well I agree, you would think it's sick unless you've read the book and know what's going on. Otherwise, you're just guessing at the circumstances and you really have no solid evidence to back that argument. :-/ I'd explain but it would ruin the story.
And here's the KUDOS TO YOU part!!

And... I really just don't like the sparkles thing...
And actually, girls are doing stuff like that. There have even been reports of people attacking anti-Twilighters... and there are stamps all over the place going "I want my bf to be like Edward" and I'm like WHAT?! You want a VAMPIRE to be your BOYFRIEND?!
I'm not really all that into the other kind of vampires, either, but at least they're straightforward, lol... they come, suck your blood, and kill you. XD
