My name is J. I have two loves in my life: Writing and drawing. I draw a little, but honestly compared to some of the stuff I've seen here, on Deviant Art, I feel like a small fish in a big pond. As far as writing is concerned, I do it alot and feel more confident in that field. I am currently working on a project which I hope, one day, I get to see published. A friend of mine told me about Deviant Art, and I decided to check it out. Man, it was a revelation! I have to say that I am now among some of the most talented people on the net. I am so glad to have found this site. Hopefully, now, I will be able to find the help that I need to put together a graphic novel that I have been working on for over a year now. Ah, that's really cool! I mostly just know the stories about his temperament and then the silly one about him meditating until his arms and legs fall off.

The funny thing about him is there are several versions of his life. But the main thing is he did travel to China and created Kung Fu, well Shaolin Kung Fu,to be exact. Is there solid proof of that? Nope, not really. But it does make a good tale. I will take some creative liscense with it and try to make it exciting and entertaining.

Lol! I'm sure you're taking no more creative license than those who immortalized legends about him! I didn't know he was credited with creating Shaolin Kung Fu. It's kind of ironic that I had no idea, since I used to study it.

We are talking about the same Bodhidharma who traveled to China and sat in a cave and stared at a wall, right? If we are, then yes, he was credited for teaching the buddhists monks martial arts.... Check it out.. [link]

Thanks for the Wiki! Yes, we're definitely talking about the same Bodhidharma, but the one I know more about is Daruma. Those little red guys sold at Japanese shrines are more used to represent tenacity and steadfastly reaching your goals. The martial arts side is probably not as well known, and they probably have more in common with charms than any sort of knowledge about Buddhism or the historical Bodhidharma. But darn if I don't love those little daruma!
