At least 50 drugs on the market cause cancer in lab animals. They are allowed because it is admitted that animal tests are not relevant.

As one researcher points out, "the ultimate dilemma with any animal model of human disease is that it can never reflect the human situation with complete accuracy."

Eating meat is not the same as cruelty. "Cruelty" is torture, although I would concede that factory farming is on the line (it's not straight out torture, but it is still cruel). Free-range farming, followed by a shotgun shell or spike to the brain, however, doesn't hurt. Just because I'm not a vegetarian or an activist doesn't mean I don't have opinions on when animals are being mistreated.

Oh little one, what you are trying to make plausible is that killing is not cruel. Perhaps, if it were a mercy killing, which in factory farms it may very well be. But taking the life of an innocent creature for what? Taste? Certainly not for survival, certainly not for nutrition.

I am unsure about your backround in animals, but I have actually had pet chickens. They like to sleep in trees, tear up the backyard, love their chicks, protect each other, eat bugs, take dirt baths, hate it when it rains, and practice crowing before they get the time of day right (5:00am).
The point being not everything is as it seems.
