Hi AJ,

Just thought I'd drop by and say hi after going through some older fav's and coming across your older pieces.

I hope that all has been going well!

Hey stranger!

It's good to see that you're still active on DA.

Things are going OK, but they could always be better.

Thanks for asking.

You can read here about how I started working with glass.

AJGlass Β blows glass. It all makes sense now.

Nice work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AJGlass In reply to Maj0rMareMolester [2015-01-12 06:15:15 +0000 UTC]

I don't blow glass - I use a torch to melt it.

Thanks.

Maj0rMareMolester In reply to AJGlass [2015-01-12 06:22:39 +0000 UTC]

Semantics, brah. That and I never knew you could get detailed pieces with a torch. It seems like it would clump up but, then again, you've had practice with it.

How marketable is glasswork? I've thought about getting into it to make pipes and stuff, but the start-up and time to get it right seemed like a big investment when I could only knock out a few pieces now and then and hope it would sell like a store-bought piece.

AJGlass In reply to Maj0rMareMolester [2015-01-12 06:27:17 +0000 UTC]

If you make glass pipes and sell them in Colorado, you could probably make some nice coin.

dayum that thing is awesome. howd you get into this?

Also i see you are asking people for opinions on what you should Β do with your pieces. in my opinion you should just go all out and go bigger and learn to make bigger glass sculptures. I personally love painting and drawing things in nature you could make a tree or a glass nautical shell ya kno?

Have you ever considered making marbles? I've been looking for some nice, slightly smaller than average sized marbles, to add to my chains.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AJGlass In reply to kenzie-riann [2013-05-02 21:31:01 +0000 UTC]

I have considered it, but for me marbles don't sell as well as my glass beads, so that's where I focus my efforts.

AJGlass In reply to DarknessRequiems [2012-08-03 21:31:01 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

Nope, I don't make glass bottles.

There's just no competing with the Chinese glass factories who crank out little glass bottles by the hundreds of thousands.

Hey buddy, love your stuff. Quick question how much does it coest you to say produce a thousand beads and how long would it take? If you had to do pattern how much extra and how much longer would it take ??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AJGlass In reply to crazybx [2012-05-25 02:19:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

There can be a lot of variables involved in estimating the cost and time it takes to manufacturing glass beads - especially ones with complex patterns, shapes, or designs.

Did you have something in particular in mind?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crazybx In reply to AJGlass [2012-05-25 10:25:36 +0000 UTC]

I did actually how long would it take to produce say 500 beads with red beads with gold stripes in let's say??! x
