I also have a question. What is your dream tattoo?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ARTClarissaAnna In reply to edi19982 [2017-10-21 04:36:41 +0000 UTC]

My dream tattoo is a full skin suit.
All of my current tattoos are part of my dream tattoo
My left hand: Wolf Spirit Hand Tattoo
My right hand: Ornamental Hand Tattoo
My right leg: Dark Crescent Tattoo

I have several more tattoos that I haven't posted:
Large 3-legged raven on my right shin to knee
Tiny dotwrok crescent on my right forearm
Nuregami from Okami on my right calf

Here are my future tattoo plans:
Large Ninetails right thigh piece inspired by the game Okami
Large anime style red haired girl inside a mirror holding a knife on my left thigh
Large gothic dragon on my lower right leg
Barn owl covering my right shoulder
Otter tattoo on my upper right forearm
Two large wolves facing eachother on my stomach
Snowflake Geometry on my upper chest
There's more, but soon...

What are your dream tattoos??

Hmm. I never actually had a tattoo, but i want the following:

Back Left Shoulder: My dads portrait since he really means a lot to me.

Back Right Shoulder: The Seven Deadly Sins tattoo by Megan Jean Morris to represent my bad luck to anything to my right side

Right Arm sleeve( front, top to bottom): Royal flush hand w/ 2 roses, gypsy portrait, filigree that morphs into a viper opening its mouth( near to the front of my hand). For the back i havent much ideas yet.

Backpiece: Trash polka Illuminati wheel with the words: 'Trust no one Outsmart everyone'

Right palm: Skyrim Illusion Symbol

Mid left thigh to mid calf: Black and red japanese dragon.

I think i will try that! I did know an awesome artist where i used to live, even though now i live pretty far away id still want him to tattoo me. His names Jon Goad and he works at Born This Way Body Arts. His realism is amazing!

I just checked out his work, he can pull off great realism.
The work is clean and looks really gentle, go for it!

Yeah it sure does! Oh and i hear you're a tattoo artist. I wanted to be one for a few years now and i was wondering how did you become one?

ARTClarissaAnna In reply to edi19982 [2017-10-21 02:22:15 +0000 UTC]

I started out with an apprenticeship that taught me everything about sterilization, contamination, and blood borne pathogens. I had this apprenticeship for 4 months and then I had to drop out due to financial reasons. I wasn't able to use a tattoo machine at all during those 4 months.

I ended up taking everything I learned from the apprenticeship and buying my first tattoo machine which is the Dragonfly X2, a reliable machine I still use today.

I started tattooing from home on fruits and Reel Skin practice skin for 6 months until I got my dexterity down with my machine and needle depth and control down.

After I felt confident with my dexterity, I started tattooing my friends and family at home using disposable single use needles and tubes, professional tattoo ink, and medical sterilants.
(This is not a professional way to start learning, but every tattoo artist starts somewhere I guess)

I was surprised to find so many people support me although my first tattoos weren't the best. My first tattoos were often healed light in some areas and lines could have been cleaner. (I was happy to know I never went too deep on anyone)

After a few months of tattooing from home and constant fake practice skin, I found a tattoo shop that was willing to accept me after 6 months of tattooing people.
By then, my lines were clean and steady when I started at the tattoo shop.
I learned much faster and mastered 3 point stretch technique and realized how vital body positioning is for you as an artist to tattoo efficiently.

I tattooed my first person on New Year's Eve just before the 2017 year.
You would not believe some of the people who got my first tattoos on them came back to show me my old healed tattoos from me and got new ones from me showing my massive improvement.
My friends and close family supported me to the end

All I can say is that tattooing is a discipline, you get to know your machine and you get to know yourself as an artist.
An apprenticeship or tattoo workplace is vital to learn more.
Only serious artists can become tattoo artists, artists that understand that drawing is just as important as tattooing, as well as a professional tattoo machine.
It takes a lot of practice to be able to tattoo what you draw.
You can never give up and there's always more to learn.
You meet other amazing artists in your journey and it can be the best experience of your life despite all the hardships you will face in tattooing.
I love it, and if you try very hard, you will love tattooing as well

Neat! I also did a little apprenticeship but i also had money problems. For some reason he didnt first show me sterilization, but showed me placement and how it will affect the final piece and he wanted me to do different styles (which Traditional Japanese was my fave). When i do get the chance to start tattooing I do need to read up on sterilization and application techniques first. But i really do appreciate the advice and if you have a request for Traditional Japanese feel free to ask!

In terms of sterilization, I got a perfect list for you to check out:

Autoclave sterilization/maintenance (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Class 5 Chemical Integrator)
Autoclave Inspection & Laws (Licenses, Spore Test)
Ultrasonic Cleaner (Maintenance, Daily)
Intermediate Level Medical Sterilants (Cavicide, Discide, Madacide, Bleach)
Bloodborne Pathogens (HIV/AIDS, TB, HEP, MRSA, STAPH)
Proper Skin Preparation (Green Soap, Alcohol, Shaving)
Proper Tattooing (Green Soap, Distilled Water, Ointments)
Skin Aftercare

I'll stay tuned on your journey, I'll definitely take up your Traditional Japanese offer if need be

Thats quite a list but it seems better than what my teacher showed me! And a little heads up on my japanese, i have a few projects i am working on that gets close to the style! I am doing a Samurai Rayman with an ink painting stlye dragon in the background (since that was my childhood dream), and also reworking a samurai helmet and lotus sketch!

Much obliged! My favorite piece was the koi fish and lotuses. My cousin who lives over in Japan wanted me to come up with her favorite piece of Japanese culture (which was koi fish) and wanted me to somehow implicate her favorite kanji symbol. I was goimg through a little creative block so i looked up koi sketches and i extended one and everything else was completely free handed. Including the water, waves, blossoms, and one of the lotuses ( which i copied and pasted since i didn't want the design to change much).

That's nice of you, and don't worry we artists gotta use our references from time to time.
You did a great creative twist and kept the cultural aspects.

Making awesome designs is one thing. But making your own tattos, and actualy tattoing them its just brilliance! When someone sees your style theyre reaction is like "Man! Thas sick! I want that tattoo, how much do you want!". (This is just have i imagine tattoo fanatics, cool dudes and ladies of course). And the style, its your own! Its hard to think of enyone else. Tottaly unique.

Oh and, thanx for the lamma i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes it is an amazing feeling to be able to tattoo your own art.
Tattooing is such a discipline and it's like learning how to draw again even if you're the world's best illustrator.
All it takes is never-ending time and focus, getting to know yourself and getting to know your machine.
The tattoo machine is like an infinite paintbrush for the skin, there are endless possibilities and it only goes as far as your creativity and technique with combined skill.
Thank you for the compliment!
