Well, Thank you, to begin with. ^^ I really am thankful.
I'm actually a mostly digital artist, anything that I have up on my site that's coloured is digital. I play with various colours and opacities and layer them to build up an image. I almost always have a theme that I have in mind, and I use an assortment mof colours and shading techniques to carry it across.

I fill in the background with a solid colour, and create a new layer above that and draw the line art on it. Then, I create a new layer under the line art for the colours. I usually get the basic colour in with a soft, low opacity brush, and then begin to add blacks and golds, some of the basic darkeners and highlighters that I use, with a smaller, harder brush. I add details like blush or eyes with a 100% opacity, pressure sensitive brush. Practice with an empty canvas and play around with brush types and opacity. It makes everything a lot easier after a bit of practice, trust me.
I really should make a tutorial. ^^ Oh well, hope that helped.
