Hello Everyone! Name's Yin (actually my nickname) nice to meet you, I'm a up and coming artist( self taught honestly), really just getting my feet wet... (Serious moment) Art is my life and I just can't live without it. I've done many artistic work over the years and I am trying to improve and every area of art possible. (End of serious moment) I'm very big on the asian culture, its basically just as important as my love for art.( I also love speaking Japanese) So yeah that includes, cos-playing, anime, gaming, music you name it. My rant for my biology project:

I believe that stem cell research is a major breakthrough that can save the lives of many. using stem cells, one is able to repair and replace damaged tissue, heal spinal cord damage, and possibly assist in minimizing effects in severe diseases. For example, stem cells could be used to fix or replace damaged tissue after a stroke, may possibly cure Alzheimer's disease, birth defects, possibly reduce the risk of a transplant by replicating your own organs to use, and assist with preventing heart disease. Reasons such as these should be taken in account and approved because stem cell research may be used to prevent people from suffering such diseases. However, I believe that there is also a thin line between preventing suffering and playing god.

Although stem cells may be significantly helpful in curing diseases, humanity has decided to take it too far and eventually find a way to escape death. For example, there have been stories of people who have paid thousands of dollars for scientists to replicate a pet that may have died. (Pardon for this quick digression, but this quote goes into explaining the con) I watch an anime known as Black Butler and the butler, Sebastian Michaelis, says

"Humans cannot resist temptation. When they are plunged into the depths of despair,likened to hell, they will hold on to anything to help them escape the situation they are in, even if it's merely a spider's thread..."

This quote explains that humans constantly strive for happiness, whether long-term or temporary. I bring this point up to say that people always look for happiness and will do almost anything for it, even resorting to playing with life and death.

Overall, I feel as though stem cell research should just be used to prevent or minimize suffering, not attempting to imitate immortality. Unfortunately, I feel the real con in stem cell research is differentiating between reducing suffering and playing with life, which is why there is a massive moral debate about the subject.
