AC04 was the best.
The rest were failures compared to 04 in my mind.

Hmm to me, the best were 04, 05, Zero and 03. Although the US version of 03 had the anime cutscenes removed, there is a rumor that they are undergoing a translation of the game's cutscenes to English, and will release it, I feel hopeful they will, but for some reason I doubt it, Namco might be pulling our legs, like the Brave Arms rumor they started, which if real would have been the first nonaircraft Ace Combat game, since it took place in Osea, and your in a exosuit, so like a real life Halo. But they revealed it a hoax to see what hype they would make. I think that was to see the want for a Namco first person shooter of futuristic style.

I HAVE fantasized about Call of Duty taking place in the Ace Combat world.
Frankly I think the Ace Combat 7 and Ace Combat JA taking place IRL is EXTRA dumb because the alternate reality is REALLY what got me hooked on the games, NOT the planes.
Before I played Ace Combat I wasn't into planes. At all. Then I PLAYED 04 and went out and blew the money on the soundtrack, which I listen faithfully to EVERY DAY.
And then I played it a little more, got hooked on planes, and now here I am

Yes, I think the product of their market research they did with the hype on the hoax game, may have lead to Inversion, a futuristic shooter/alien attack type game, with a lot of crazy platforming, since the alien's tech, as well as the Grappler backpack weapon the aliens had, that the two heroes stole, that can grab objects with gravity and lift them, or switch gravity in regions, so basically you can snipe aliens while standing on the ceiling or walls
I think its dumb to remove that as well. Joint Assault though in the real world, wasn't the real world still, it was still an alternate reality with superweapons and superfighters, just without the fictional countries. But Assault Horizon (AC 7) is real world completely, no super weapons or super fighters, which also hooked me on the series as the fictional countries did.
Same here, well I had some interest, since I have family who served in the Air Force, but Ace Combat 5, that made me interested in aircraft more, as well as the AC series. I still can't get my hands on the Japan version of AC 3, the one with all the levels,planes, and cut scenes.

I don't think either ACJA or AC7 look a FRACTION as intriguing as the others.
I thought the Fenrir was gonna be in AC7, though.
What made-up fighters are in ACJA?
