There is a lot of infographics I want to make involving gen8...
...but we don't have artworks for all of them yet.

Well, Global-Link artworks only started being called that after Global Link started using them. Before that, they were known as Dream world artworks, because that's where they were introduced. Dream world as the old website with connectivity functions with Pokemon games in generation 5, which shut down and got replaced by Global Link.
...so there was no reason to think Global Link getting shut down would mean anything in regards to these artworks, necessarily.
Since PokΓ©mon Home replaced some of the features of Global Link, my hope was that they would simply use those artworks with Home now. But Home has come out, and it's using some kind of 3d-model still recreations of the official (Sugimori style) artworks instead. I'm sort of disappointed by those, because they just look ugly as hell to me.. I feel like they wanted to go for a Go style, but I've disliked how Pkmn look on Go so much that I have never even played it xD
So yeah, it seems now the "Global Link" Artworks might not get continued anymore, which is a shame IMO.
I'm eager to update certain graphics, but I'm unsure what to use.
Official artwork (Sugimori style) would be nice (but heavy on data usage compared to clean PNGs of GL-art, and that can become an issue when making infographics with 900 images on them lol)... but the problem with those is that it takes ages for them to be released on any official website. We recently got A LOT of the gen8 artworks from the "google pokemon vote", but those were merged with a grey background, requiring cleaning..and with certain Pokemon like Frosmoth, that is impossible, because it has semi-transparent wings for example...Β
..and the bigger issue with sugimori artwork is, it's always hard to get all of the artworks with consistent quality (same size and resolution), as I don't want to have to resize some, have to watch out for artifacts from cleaning others etc. Because soemtimes you're drag&dropping hundreds of them and it's just annoying if they're not identical xD
Basically, what I need is a COMPLETE collection of Pkmn artworks with consistent quality, and as of right now, the only available one to my knowledge is the ripped artworks from Home...which I can't stand <_<
So I don't know what to do other than waiting longer for now.

Hey Mitja! I wanted to Β know your opinion on something:
Not sure if you noticed this, but after the Jynx-color incident, some previously black/dark grey PokΓ©mon started to slowly change to deep purple or lighter colors than they used to be.
Changed to purple:

Became lighter grey instead of black:

It started circa gen 3 and achieved its apex in gen 4, first with sprites, then with their updated Sugimori artwork. I find this very explicit with Sneasel and Murkrow. Their gen 3 sprites are grey, and from gen 4 on they became purple.

If something changed in 1->2 or 2->3, it's related to the bigger palette of colours the newer hardware offered.
2->3 (FRLG) is also when most of the old Pokemon got new artworks to fit the style we've seen ever since. A few missing gen2 pokes got theirs updated in HGSS. And no noteworthy changes happened after these (Snorlax/Houndour/Murkrow=FRLG art, Sneasel=HGSS art).
So I'm not sure where you're going with this, but I think you're looking to deep into this. Pokemon did get lighter overall in the games because they feel it fits the graphics better but that's not a colour change.
I mean look at Zekrom, a more recently added pokemon that's supposedly as black as it gets, yet it's sprites and art are still quite grey to fit with the shading style and everything. And it also became "lighter" just in gen 6.
So yeah, the actual colour changes occured with far back when their arts were updated and they were still changing their style, except for the Jynx case where the controversy seems to have played a role.
