And regarding your journal entry, if you use a mouse, SAI is great for lineart, since you can use a vector layer and make lines, adjust their thickness, and so on. Regular Photoshop is good too, if you use a pen tool, but I'd say SAI is best for lineart. In my personal experience, I use both SAI and Photoshop (exporting what I'm working on in SAI as a .psd is one of the best things about SAI, imo XD). SAI has really good lineart for both mouse and tablet users.
Personally, I prefer Elements just because I've been used to using it for so long before I got regular Photoshop. When I DO use Elements, it's to paint. However, when I'm animating, I use regular Photoshop (I use Cs5, btw) because it has an animating option that is much less complicated than Flash.
