I know it's been years, but on the off-chance that you still log into this, I thought I'd leave a comment somewhere where you'd see it: are you okay, Ash? Are you still out there somewhere? I miss you dearly, but I haven't been able to get in touch with you anywhere else. I hope you're still alright, and if you are, PLEASE let me know.

I'm so sorry about your mom passing away because of lupus and overdose. My condolences to you and your family.
I just meant it in the context of the show.

Nah, don't worry. I totally get it.
There's a reason that Lupus is brought up so often. The symptoms are so random that until it's tested you can't rule it out as a possibility.
That's why they thought she was dying of an overdose, they didn't test for Lupus.
Really, they can't not guess Lupus.

That's good
Really? I didn't know that the symptoms are really random. That's probably one the worst diseases you can get, the one you don't know what you have.
There is so much out there, and it's so sad when the answer was is right there but you didn't go for it.
This is one reason why hospitals should get more funding, so they can run every test out there for someone.

It was almost funny, in a morbid sort of way.
Flu, Pneumonia, Pancreatic cancer, Sepsis, some disease of the kidneys that I can't pronounce much less spell, Rheumatoid arthritis, the list went on for miles of what she was diagnosed with. And she showed symptoms for each one. It was really bizarre.
They didn't even know it was Lupus until the autopsy, which shows how amazingly inept the staff at the hospital were. It was in our family history, they should have tested it first.
I completely agree that our hospitals need more funding. But it would be helpful if we spent a little more money on health care, as opposed to sick care, as well.

Showed symptoms for all of them? That is kind of bizarre, no offense. I mean you hear or see this stuff on television, but it actually happening in real life is different.
Ok, so wait. You have Lupus in your family history, yet the hospital staff didn't test for it first?? That was really inept of them; that would be the first thing I would do after the standard tests.
True, but it's going to be a while before any of those actually become one of the major issues in society so that people become really aware of them.

It was bizarre, and a little confusing. The problem that made them go through that was that she was sneaking her own meds, over the counter stuff, in addition to what the hospital gave her. So that cause wonky symptoms.
It was a great aunt of hers on her mother's side, and a cousin on her father's. I was told that it's not considered a relevant history.
Honestly though, if two people from different sides of the family show it, what could be more relevant?
It's already been brought to the fore, but people shoved it out of their minds. I got this idea from 'Supersize Me'.

I'm so sorry for the late reply back
Ah, yes that could have caused some of the additional symptoms which might have led the hospital off on different tangents.
Definitely, if two people have it in your family I would call it highly relevant. Even if not, it could have hurt...but two people??
Oh yeah. It was really popular it came and I thought people would get the message, but sadly only some did. I don't know if people don't understand it or just don't want to grasp the message.

No prob.
Who knew Aleve and morphine don't mix?
I don't understand why it's not considered relevant, but I guess it is now.
The point was fast food is a very inefficient but plausible method of suicide.

They still should have checked, it couldn't have hurt.
Oh yeah, I remember seeing that a long time ago. And it's true, you can't survive on fast food everyday. But two times a week or so.

I don't which is sadder, the generation who won't live as long or the parents who will see their children die before them. I don't know if I count in said generation though lol.

It's not that radical. It just means that if the parent lives to 70, the child might make it to 65.
