I thought my new watcher sounded familiar! \ouo Hola

Yes! I saw your gallery and then kicked myself for not having watched you sooner! I'm still totally in love with your art. Argh, how did I miss your account for so long? This wrong has been righted. ^3^

Hello~ Thank you a lot for the watch, I really appreciate it!
Your art looks interesting so I'm watching you back. x)
Ooh, are you working on a comic at the moment?

No problem at all! jogeart referred me to your work and I'm really impressed! It's really quite great. He also mentioned that you were working on a comic? I'd like to hear more about it, if you don't mind. :'D
Indeed I am. Though it's going so much slower than I'd hoped, haha. Isn't that always the case?
And thanks for the watch! It's greatly appreciated. I hope my art continues to interest you~

Wow, thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoy my art. I try not to disappoint you in the future then. x)
And yes, I'm working on my thesis as I should graduate soon. Aside from the compulsory written study that I should do, I'm working on my comic 24/7. XD
It's kinda ironic that all the years before, school has been the one reason why I haven't got enough time to create a larger comic, but now in the end school gives me all the time I need for making one. :')
Oh yes, I'm also struggling with the slowness of my project. I'd like to get to the colouring part for example, but I need to ink the pages first. So eager. :'D
Sure, no problem! I'd also like to hear about your project. Is yours purely hobby-based or related to school like mine?

Akaikane In reply to Rosakaz [2015-04-28 15:34:56 +0000 UTC]
I'm sure you won't! :'D
Wow, that's insane! But I envy your passion for it. As long as you're mostly having fun, the time flies by when working on a comic. Mind if I ask what the themes of your thesis and study are?
That's pretty neat! Not that you couldn't have time before, but now that school is the reason why you can work on a larger comic. Have you been making comics for a long time, then?
Understandable. But inking? Damn, that's impressive. I bypass that step all together because I have no patience for it. So kudos to you. XD;
Right now, it's hobby-based. I've had it stewing for close to four years, but it hasn't been until the past year, after I graduated, that I've gotten to really work on it. Once I start my graduate studies in September, my comic will be my main body of work throughout my schooling. ^^

Since childhood my dream has been that I could draw comics as my profession, so the passion has its roots pretty deep down. X)
I actually tweaked my original theme a while ago.Β I read this one book from Scott McCloud and it inspired me to switch my topic. :')Β I haven't yet perfected the title but it's something like "how frames are used in (digital) comics to express time and rhythm". I found it very fascinating and there's only little studies about it.
I've been making comics on my spare time since I was 6, but never got anything finished or published them anywhere.
My current project is the biggest so far and I'm aiming to get the first story arc done by autumn. phew!
Actually I still need to figure out how clean lines I'll be needing.
Gotta make some more tests to get the style refined. I don't like inking too much so I hope it doesn't need to be REALLY clean. XD
Wow, four years! I bet it's quite a big story then? I started mine in 2012 but I've been working actively on the story since last fall.

That's a pretty awesome dream. Admittedly, I've only really gotten back into comics in the past three years or so. But I used to make really awful Pokemon fan comics when I was a kid. So that counts for something? XD
Oh! You're talking about the third and fourth chapters of Understanding Comics, right? The topic of time and rhythm in comics fascinates me as well. It's too bad that such little research regarding it exists. Perhaps it's too bold of me to state, but I'd like to hear of your findings once you're ready to share them. If you don't mind that is.
Wow, that's a long time. But it's great that you've got the chance to work on such a long project now. How large is it, if I may ask? Are you going to post it online?
Ha! Well, inking can look great, but it's so tedious sometimes. Here's to hoping you find a happy medium. XD
It's fairly substantial. I measure everything in novel-length (literature, not graphic) because that's where my roots really lie. In total, the first book should stretch to about 250-300 hundred comic pages. There are three books total planned, but we'll see how that actually goes. I think each chapter is between 15-20 pages, and the first book has 23 chapters. It may have been sitting around for four years, but it hasn't really been given that much attention until about a year ago. I'm slow. XD

You used to do comics before too? I also had a longer break from making comics when I was in college.
After getting into my current school I have slowly accustomed myself to the joy of creating comics.
Oh yes, those chapters indeed. XD I try my best to get to the writing mode asap. It feels so difficult to begin because I'm so rusty when it comes to writing analyzing or investigative text. The previous essay I wrote was in uh, 2008 or something in college. XD My god. But sure! If I get anything good on paper I can share my findings with you.
Well, the first story arc might reach 70-80 pages. I have several characters in the story and I'm planning to have them all develop in some way, and that alone without the main story, will expand the story quite a lot. At this point I could say it's at least three story arcs long, but it can still change drastically. :')
Wow, that is a big story. XD Just the length of it makes me so excited to hear more of it, it sounds so epic. 8)
I have the same with my story, it's been collecting dust for some time until I picked it up a year go. I still haven't thought much about the dialogue etc in the second arc, because just creating their world and culture is so time consuming.

I really enjoy the challenge with those backgrounds so I'm very happy to hear that! ^o^ It's a fairly slow build story, so I really hope people will warm up to it eventually. D:

Aaaaah, don't worry about it. I've been slow too. I'm traveling right now and the only internet I have is with my phone (hence why I haven't been online or able to work on my half of the art trade). Please, take your time. I'm in no rush, and hopefully you won't mind a (slightly longer) wait!

Alright, thanks. I don't mind waiting. I understand the whole travel thing. I'll be leaving for Mexico in about two days, so I won't have much access to your trade for a while. I'll still try to work on it though.
