Favorite books: Lord Of The Ring trilogy, The Shining, Martian Chronicles, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Lord Of The Flies ... the list goes on
Favorite writers: J.R.R. Tolkien, Steven King,
Favorite games: Rugby, Baseball, College Football, Golf
Tools of the Trade: Nikon Cameras and Lens'
Other Interests: Photography, Hiking, Mother Nature, Film & Music

# About me

First of all I'd like to welcome you to my page, and if you took the time to glance at my gallery, I'd like to say thank you. Also; If you favored one of my shots I'd like to say this up front; THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I do appreciate it. I may not individually respond to being favored, but I do respond to every comment.

I got my first camera in 1958 on my 10th birthday and I've been hooked ever since.
In 1965 I got my first 35mm, a Nikkormat FT
In 1972 I got my degree in Graphic Design/Photography.
My photography interests vary, but I favor three subjects; Surfing allen59.deviantart.com/gallery… , Classic Cars allen59.deviantart.com/gallery… and Mother Nature allen59.deviantart.com/gallery… .
The majority of my photographs are taken in Central and Northern California, in particular; Santa Cruz and the coast both north and south; Monterey/Carmel area; The San Francisco Bay Area and the mountain regions that surround it; the Lake Tahoe region; Yosemite National Park.

My first SLR camera was also a Nikkormat.  Love that camera.  Still works and I haul it out every now and then. Because it is pretty much all manual all the time I learned a lot about how to use a camera,  knowledge that still holds me in good stead.  In fact I continue to use manual for exposures, but autofocus can be a wonderful thing.

True that!  Mine's still kicking, although I've been told that the light meter should give out sooner or later.  I guess in my case it's later.
