Yup, it's very nice and well done, I like it very much. Thank you
As for your painting I probably won't be able to send it until after christmas because apparently the post office here closed a while ago and I think the next closest office is in lancaster, but I believe ones in tehachapi and I'll be up there for christmas.

That is alright, take your time I don't want to rush you. It is good to know that you like what I made you, and I hope it will last you a long time. You get to go home for Christmas that is good so you can spend time with your family. I do wish you the best of luck and I will keep praying for good things to come your way.

Trisha the bowls are finished, and I picked out the nicest one so I can send it to you. So all I need is for you to send me your address so I can mail this out. And you will really like it.

Trisha I am almost done with your present. I need you to look at my deviation "segmented bowls round 2part 4" and pick the one you would like.

The-Lucky-Woodworker [2011-12-02 04:58:09 +0000 UTC]

Trisha I was working on your Christmas present today on the lathe, and it shattered far beyond repair. I only had enough of my exotic wood to do this once, and when it shattered I felt my own heart shatter at the thought of not being able to give you the present you would have deserved. So I am saying that I am truely sorry for not being able tosend you a gift this year.

It happens sometimes, don't worry about it, as they say it's the thought that counts. I also know for a fact that you put your best effort into it and that's all I could ever ask from you. I also need your address so I can send you your gift.

I know you say don't worry about it, but for myself it is the fact I am not able to give you that special gift that I had worked so hard on to make special is why I am beating myself up over this. As for my address it is 1230 Juniper st. Mountain Home ID 83647. I also never got your address in that note, but I am going to attempt to make you something else in the 7 work days in this semester.

Yeah, I meant to send the note last night, but for some reason my comp. kept telling me it was connected to the Internet even though it wasn't.
You really are stubborn huh?

I know about having computer issues, I am going to use Linux because of all the windows problems i am having. But I am not stubborn, I have dedicated my life to the craft of woodworking and I do not accept defeat easily.

Amalaric-Sniper In reply to The-Lucky-Woodworker [2011-12-07 04:41:11 +0000 UTC]

lol to me that's still being stubborn, but theres nothing wrong with that. Linx/Ubuntu/kubuntu are all pretty good OS's, but I haven't had much time with them outside of my comp. class to really know how good they really are.
Anyways, what type of issues are you having? Just normally OS problems (cuz we all know windows has quite a few) or are they virus related? Also what version of windows are you using?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Lucky-Woodworker In reply to Amalaric-Sniper [2011-12-07 04:46:39 +0000 UTC]

I currently run dual boot between xp and 7 and these issues are OS related and it involes problems in more recent updates. So to have a better work computer I will use Linux because I need something more stable and reliable.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Amalaric-Sniper In reply to The-Lucky-Woodworker [2011-12-07 05:49:11 +0000 UTC]

Why dual boot between two windows programs? That seems a little odd. xp doesn't have to many issues that I've noticed, however it is considered "outdated" since 7. Speaking of 7 I can't say much about it since I run Vista. minus a few updates.
Linux is more stable yes, but not quite as user friendly in my opinion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Lucky-Woodworker In reply to Amalaric-Sniper [2011-12-07 06:36:36 +0000 UTC]

Well the whole reason I have been doing dual boot is because of AutoCAD 3d modeling. My computer would not have enough ram or processor power in 7 so I set up xp specifically to run on 89mb of ram leaving almost all three gigs if ram available and 512mb on the videocard it would still lag but it is usable. I have a good AMD Athlon 64bit 2.4ghz processor that only peaks at 80% on full load. Also with some of the updates for 7 it caused many issues with my archived data, unarchived the data and deleted half the files then the rest became corrupted so i lost the records of all the projects i have built in the last five years. That is why I am switching to Linux

Amalaric-Sniper In reply to The-Lucky-Woodworker [2011-12-07 07:10:04 +0000 UTC]

That sucks, why didn't you take off auto update, and then remove the most recent updates from your comp. before messing with your archived data?
I also have to ask, how much gigs do you have?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Lucky-Woodworker In reply to Amalaric-Sniper [2011-12-07 07:56:56 +0000 UTC]

It was afyer an update that my computer restarted, and when loaded the 200gigs of .rar archives on my external drive, half were gone the resr corrupt. I have a backup system for that data which luckily I burned them all onto dvds as a hard copy. My desktop has three gigs of ram, graphicscard has 512mb integrated. I cannot upgrade my computer anymore at this point, and since I need resources Linux looks to be my best option.

The-Lucky-Woodworker In reply to Amalaric-Sniper [2011-11-30 04:59:02 +0000 UTC]

Well I have not been doing the greatest recently. I had to leave my job because 25-30 hours of homework a week on top of 10 hours of back to back classes monday through friday has become overwhelming. I tore my shoulder up installing kitchen cabinets last week and I can't take the time away from class to have a second shoulder surgery so I just have to put up with the pain as usual. I didn't have a real thanksgiving because of my sister. My parents have been helping her out financially and thanksgiving day she came over and just walked right in the door, and my dad was furious and was trying not to yell at her that she does not live in the house so she has to knock and then we will open the door. Well my sister called my dad a fucking asshole and my dad just got his things and went back out hunting. Well I respect my dad a lot and i was not going to let that stand and I threw my 260 pound sister through the front door out into the yard with my torn shoulder. I did replace the door, but my mother spent the whole weekend just sitting in her chair crying and not eating because she was so upset. Tge reason being is growing up my mothers parents fought all the time since her father was an alcoholic, ger brother was a drug addict, one sister was suicidal, and her other sister is severely bipolar. So that being said, all my mother ever wanted was a family that would stay together, and with what happened she is not taking it well. I have been driving back and forth between twin falls and mountain home every day spending about $50 a day in gas just to take care of my mother and the whole time I am behind in work at school. So with everything that has been going on you can see how worn down and stressed I am. I just pray things have been much simpler for you.

Sometimes I wish life was simpler, however I feel that would take the fun out of living each day. As for your thanksgiving I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out so well for your family. I have to ask though, why does it bother your dad so much that your sister did not knock?

The-Lucky-Woodworker In reply to Amalaric-Sniper [2011-12-04 17:14:19 +0000 UTC]

When my dad graduated high school he moved out of the house, and when he came back to visit my grandfather was there at the door and said "since you do not live here anymore you are a guest and that means you have to knock on the door first then we will let you in" everything in my dad's family is built on respect, so when my sister just walked in the door it was very disrespectful.

Amalaric-Sniper In reply to The-Lucky-Woodworker [2011-12-07 04:13:10 +0000 UTC]

I understand that, but it just seems weird to me. I guess that's because my family does it differently. My family lets me just walk in because they don't want me to feel like a stranger or seem like a stranger and to know that I'm always welcomed over; that has to do with the fact that I may not live there but it doesn't mean that it's not my home.

The-Lucky-Woodworker In reply to Amalaric-Sniper [2011-12-07 04:42:10 +0000 UTC]

Pretty much everything in my family is different and my parents are strict. But I am glad they are because it taught me to respect my parents, be clean and organized, work hard, and never settle for less than my best. And even when I go home yes it is my registered address and I have a key, but if either of my parents are home I will knock first because it shows respect for my parents and their house.
