I personally thought that Slayers Evolution-R was very... strange. It felt like they dropped a lot of characters' histories and the interactions that made me love the show (and comics).
That said, my opinion of Zelgadis, Rezo, and frankly all the characters remained unchanged because of the new seasons. I watched them because they were better than getting no new Slayers at all, but I felt like they were really beating a dead horse (or red priest, in this case). It felt more like fanfiction than a real Slayers story.
That aside, I really enjoyed your picture of Zel beating on Rezo. For all the drama they were building to, Episode 10 really needed something more forceful, more cathartic like what you depicted. Your piece filled a little gap the show left in my mind.
