I like action sci-fi more than I do dramatic... one reason I HATED The new BSG and Caprica, but LOVE the original.  Babylon 5 has a perfect balance of both.  Oh, and comedy.  Can't forget Londo err comedy

I would not say I hated the new BSG - but I found it dreadfully miserable and hard to watch. Everyone just looked so unhappy all the time, it was quite depressing. I agree, Babylon 5 strikes a good balance, the action is never gratuitous action and the drama does not stretch out too much and is lightened by the comedy.

a, I worked with Richard Hatch to revive the old series.
b, Starbuck was a womanizer, NOT a woman
c, Boomer a Cylon?!  Please!!!
d, on the other hand, Grace Park is HOT  

I tried for years to get into the show, I couldn't.
I LOVED the pilot for Caprica.  The series did not live up to the pilot's promise.

I did not actually ever watch the original BSG - I guess I must one day - but I am not too rushed to do it at the moment!

It's because I was not so impressed by the new one - but everyone says the original is better, so I will give it a try someday...

Just check your brain at the door some episodes... this is 1978 we're talking about
there is a complete version of the pilot.  Watch it, not the three-part chopped up version.  The difference is like night and day.

if you can find the complete original series in a library, check it out.  That's the only way to find the uncut pilot.  There are two scenes that are definitely not for kids, one of which ws edited out for broadcast in syndication.  It involves Starbuck and Athena in an apology scene.  He walks in on her changing

I have seen the classic series on sale here in used stores for like $20.  
You're worth $20 I think  but there's just one small problem.  I'll have to check Zimbabwe's DVD region code

I think we're region 2, IIRC. I always look it up before going abroad then promptly forget! It is definitely a different code from the United States though!! It is the same one as in England!

The original series IS available on Amazon Instant Video in the UK.  The pilot is not complete.  They're 2 quid an episode, not free.

I was going to lend you my ID and password if they were free to watch.    Ah well.
