This reminded me of you.

Toska

Russian – Vladmir Nabokov describes it best: β€œNo single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.”

Yup. Pretty much. English is a very shallow language in so many ways.

Ya’aburnee

Arabic – Both morbid and beautiful at once, this incantatory word means β€œYou bury me,” a declaration of one’s hope that they’ll die before another person because of how difficult it would be to live without them.

You know, I think that's how my grandma felt about my grandad. And that's what keeps me going now. She was so desolate when he died, I'd never seen anything like it, and the first christmas after he died she was so sad. And this year she wasn't, and I know she can't have known she was going to die because she didn't get sick until the hospital fucking killed her, but I can't help feeling part of her knew in a way, if that makes sense, and that gave her peace.

Can you watch region 2 on your laptop? Would that work? My friend at uni who is american just downloaded a free patch to make her DVDs work on our laptops.

Yeah, and they're doing a christmas special I think, and a doctor who christmas special, and another 3 part sherlock series next year, which considering the episodes are 90 minutes with no ads is like 3 movies!
