I am aware that England didn't 'rule the seas', I was simplifying my arguments as she obviously wouldn't grasp, nor read, an in-depth summary of an event that wasn't even the main part of my argument. "The entire world but the English is aware of that fact" - I'm not English, and history is also incredibly subjective.

I don't really care about the Armada, it's not a part of history that interest me. Do I think England played a larger role than "merely helping" the Dutch in the Armada? Yes. But do I think England performed ~fantastically well~ in the Armada? No. Was I referencing a strip in Hetalia canon? Yes.

Well, the English have quite the reputation of blowing all their victories up (can't truely say we did it so much better, we just took one of our own vessels and went straight trough an English vessel And we were the strategists ((very sad, I know))), but to say a supportive role was wrong, I must admit.

But I agree with you on the 'I hate a country for something that happened centuries ago' thing, that's just being ignorant. Hell, the Dutch aren't even mad at the Spanish anymore, eventhough we fought with them for over centuries (Believe me, the Spanish armada is fun. PIRATES!), nowadays it's the most loved place to go on vacation.

Fangirls have already made up enough mary-sue Portugals to pair up with the Netherlands (though I must admit I love the man with the ponytail and scar across his eye) and if that doesn't work out; Sinterklaas will take us if we were bad children this year (no shit, our santa is just that cool).
And you are not the most annoying member, obviously you heard about our anti-Eastern European campain led by our lovely Geert Wilders that decided our country is better than anyone elses (B*tch please, everyone only likes us because of pot, not very cultural), so you saying you wantd to leave the EU wasn't that much of a shocker.

And you live in Scotland? If so, Scottish Gaelic and Frisian (hope you know it) are related somehow, and Frisian is the language spoken in the north of the Netherlands, so it should be easier for you to learn than German (Dutch is derived from Frisian, Frisians are still complaining about it).
And I can speak German. And a little bit French. And English and now alternatively English with a Scottish accent (just to piss off my teacher, awesome.)

Don't envy my language skills, we have to learn Dutch, German, French and English (that's why I am now capable of writing this in terrible English lol) at Dutch schools because we are a trading country.

(And they sell pot in the USA, stating it is not the same because they use it for 'medical purposes' and because our average drug use is lower than the European standards other countries will try it out as well. NO MORE POT AMSTERDAM!)

And OMG did you notice every OC is female and paired up with 90% of the main cast? Hell, I've seen female Israels. Not truely what I would say....
Though I can agree with a female Ireland. With ginger hair and lots of freckles, eventhough an all-male family would be badass.

And our Santa based the American santa you now see today, hence we celebrate both Christmas and Sinterklaas , so more presents!
