1 more last thing.... u know how the boon docks faces are draw i may experiment with that because the way thier faces are drawn (not to be offendin) have a more african- american feel to them in other words they look more like black people and since i'm one i thought it would be good for me to draw like that so please don't think i took your style or anything if i draw like that every once and a while....(feels good to get it off my chest)!!

In response to your journal, I think you are putting too much reliance in how-to books. They are great for the basics if you have no idea where to start, but most great artists learn from practicing and their own creativity.. trial and error, so to speak. If you rely on how-to books, you're more likely to copy their styles and wont come up with your own.. THAT is what is key if you really want to be successful. The best way I have found to learn to draw is to sketch with a model.. it doesn't have to be a live person, just a picture will do.. and if you want to learn anime, books are good but like I said, just for the basics and fundamentals, and then you would do much better to practice throwing in your own techniques and seeing which you like and which you don't. If you don't do that, you will never learn more than the books show you, and you will be stuck in that crevice until you figure it out.
