Because I don´t like Marie Antoinette very much, one of my hobbies is history especially the french history during the time of King Louis XVI. And well I learnt much about the real Marie Antinette and she wasn´t the good and innoncent Queen as she shown in many Movies like Lady Oscar or Marie Antoinette 1938..

I see ^^ But I think Marie Antoinette's personality is very interessant and she was very different that we think about her. I feel sorry that we don't study more about her (I'm an history student) even if she is the most famous queen of the country...

Personnally, I feel exactly the same with Sissi : now I know very well her life, I think she was unbearable and her husband, François-Joseph, was very patient to live with this woman ^^' But I still like her : she annoys me, but she fascinates me X'D

Well I agree with you that her Personality was different like we think of her. She made a change in her charakter after 1789 but it was to late for her. Before the revolution she wasn´t interested in Politics (and it wasn´t her Job; it was Louis Job to rule the country)and she don´t wanna know what happend outside of Versailles and was only interested in fashion and her own life and I think this was her biggest mistake. Empress Maria Theresia warn her and sad she must be a good Queen for her folk or she becomes trouble with them...
But I think she wasn´t responsible for the revolution like many people think, it was the fault of Louis XIV and his followers on the Throne. Louis XVI try to save the country but at the end he was to weak and the Influence of the Nobility and the Church was to big and they only saw her own interests...
I think it was a difficult time when Marie Antoinette became Queen of France.

I like Sisi , she is one of my favourites Members of the Habsburgs, beside her son Rudolf and his Daughter Elisabeth Marie
Franz Joseph loves Sisi deeply and he allowed her to life her life like she want it.
She didn´t want to be an Empress because she hate the life and the rules of the Austrian Court. She wasn´t a typical women of the 19th Century. And I think this is why so many people loves her, she was going her own way.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I always think that the most mistake in Marie-Antoinette's life was that she was only a lovely teen when she gone at Versailles court so she wasn't very prepared for this role, she was very immature. And at Versailles, there wasn't any person for help her, no other queen. At another period, when the very young Marie-Adélaïde of Savoy came at the french royal court, Madame Maintenon tooks care of her. Marie-Antoinette had just the three daugthers of Louis XV, who wasn't in favour for this marriage... I think this is because anyone couldn't help her to became a good french queen that she did that she want. And her marriage was an another mistake, because the most people on Versailles would'nt this union with Austria, so they didn't accept her very well. Perhaps if the hypothetic marriage beetween Louis XV and her sister was done, and they came two at the french court, perhaps they were accept... (But this was the situation with Alix of Hesse-Darmstadt, the last empress of Russia, and her older sister, and it didn't be a success too...)

Yes I love the Sissi period in the Habsburg family, because she inspired me so much *v* Their lifes were so dramatics and tragics...

Yes and I think it was Maria Theresia fault, she know what it mean to be a Queen but she didn´t told it her daughter(s) she only teach them to be a good wife and a mother of a lot of children. Ok we know MT loves her Husband Franz Stephan deeply but this marriage was an exemption in this century. And maybe MT didn´t know the Problems in France, that 97% of the folk are very poor and dissatisfied with the reign of King Louis XV.
And MA wasn´t a Queen like the Queens before her, Maria Lecynska was a quite and shy Queen also the wife of Louis XIV (her Problem was, the she didn´t speak french very good. And Marie Antoinette was the opposite,she loves the benefit of her Position and the life at the court with the festicals and later the Theatre. And I think this was a reason why the people think she was extravagant.
Somewhere i read, one of her sister should marry Louis XVI?
And her Aunts only use the young Dauphine for her own purposes and later bash her.
It wasn´t a easy life at the french court and MA learnt it in a very hard way. I think she close her eyes and didn´t want to see all the misery in the country.

Many people compare MA and Alix because both lifes ends tragic but Alix marriage to Nicky was happy but Alix dislike the russian court and had a problem with the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorwna who didn´t agree with the marriage of her eldest son.

Yes, one of her sister should marry with a french king, but it was Lous XV, and not Louis XVI. It was Marie-Elsabeth, which was a great beauty ath that time. But she became ill (smallpox) a few time before the wedding and her face was very scarred, so they didn't marry and she became cannoness... I feel sad for her X)

No problem, it's fun to speak with a person who love the same things ^^ Personnally, I totally crazy about olds monarchies, so I study them a lot : I begin to be specialist about French, Spanish and Austrian court, and my sister is the specialist about English court (she loves Queen Victoria ^w^). It's funny to discover their lives, their destinies and their relationship together...

Ah ok, I thought it was Maria Johanna who should marry Louis XVI, I must read a Book about Maria Theresia again XD
Well some of her sisters hadn´t a good live, e.g. her oldest Sister Marie Anne who was mostly ill and never married or her sister Maria Amalie of Parma, who was very unhappy with her marriage.
In this Point I think MA was lucky to have a husband like Louis XVI, who never had another women or was mean to her. It wasn´t the big love she dreamd about but he was friendly to her.

I´m happy too to speak with you about old royals ^^ I´m interested in the french court of Louis XVI and a little bit of Lois XIV, the Austrian court in the time of Franz Joseph and also the russian court of Tsar Nikolaj II
And yes it´s also interesting to know how they live and why some of them ends so tragic.

Perhaps I do a mistake, but I don't ever seen in another biographies I read... And for her couple with Louis XVI, I read one time that their couple was probably the strongest of the french monarchy mainly at the end. I think it's possible, because even if the don't love (well, I think so about Marie-Antoinette, but I think Louis XVI was a bit love about his wife), they have respect for each other. So they can brave together the difficulties...

I'm interested by the same 8D And I love too Louis XV, even if he has bad reputation. (I fight often with my sister for known who is responsable to the revolution : I say that it was Louis XIV, but she says if Louis XV was able to do reforms when it was the time, he could be changes the kingdom in sweetness X) My sister is crazy about Louis XIV : she call him "Loulou" and she can become very scary if someone criticize him without evidences X'D).
