For some reason I decided to let the comic pages pile up and read them all at some point so I wouldn't have to go expecting the next page all the time. And then I've procrastinated reading them for a solid while ('cause I put the 'pro' in procrastination like that, as my new signature states). Nice of you to come by and say you miss the banter we've had.

Aye, trouble is then someone else might beat you to the joke. Truth be told the current chapter feels awfully tangential compared to the other arcs; I might have to give it a re-read to figure out what Jakkal wanted to say in it.
But yeah, sometimes I manage to hook other commenters, but the chain rarely gets beyond 3-4 deep.

My pleasure.
Your fractal art has some similarity to some structures found in plants or such, and they're interesting and beautiful in general as well. Faved your newer one - Crack - too.
Have a nice summer!

Thank you very much!!
Yes, in nature you can have many fractals, repeating the same pattern: Snowflakes, broccoli, pinneaple... is almos everywhere

Yeah. Also crystals and other minerals can have some surprising patterns.
Natural beauty on fine display.
Not to mention the fine patterns and else in general that various rocks, gems and crystals display. Such as the various vivid colour shifts in opals (black also) and labradorite, pietersite, etc.

They are fascinating

There are many things in nature that one could easily think that humans invented. That in itself is fascinating.

Eyy, thanks.
Since dad knows I like good whiskey, he got me a bottle as old as I am.

Oh wow.
That's a fantastic gift!Β And probably not cheap!

Antaria-Nova In reply to QuebecoisWolf [2018-04-13 17:32:02 +0000 UTC]
And it's good, which isn't a given no matter how aged such a beverage is.
It is a nice gift, indeed. Though I'm not super old yet. Just 26. And it's some special selection, not chill-filtered and all from the same barrel at barrel strength, so of that particular same whiskey there's only was it 132 bottles. Sure, that's just of that one batch, but still.
When dad was to Iceland he brought home some fantastic gin. I mean really, the best I've had. One didn't want to blend it with anything, it was so good as-is. Name of that was Vor. I think it was hand-written on the label what batch and what bottle number it was. I think that was bottle 100-something. The distillery had only been up for something under a year, I think, and that gin had already won the "Best gin"-award at some world spirits thing somewhere.
And I'm actually just now sipping away at a glass of the other whiskey I got for birthday. One I'd mused that I want to find more of, at some point, since I really liked it. Talisker Port Ruighe, Scotch single malt. Finished in port casks.
Oops. I got carried away, I guess. As you can guess from that, I'm somewhat enthusiastic about good drinks. Well, good food and drinks and tea and good whatever, I suppose. I easily get carried away talking about something I like.

Why thank you dear sir.
As a present, since I'm a fan of tea, my folks got me a neat design water kettle with adjustable temperature so you get the right temp for different teas (or the more optimal temperature for coffee than straight up boiling).

I wish you lots of success with that! Likewise, mostly playing games and (slightly desperately) trying to get back on my creative side. Changed up my name for something I tend to use on other platforms, also working on a new pixel art avatar. 50x50 pixel is a bothersome limitation.

I'm trying to think of suggestions for that avatar but none come to mind. Dripping swiss cheese. Must smell lovely.
I do have some WIP pics of my current ZBrush "project", but I'd rather wait until I've gotten a bit further before posing something on dA. Or might post several WIP images at once.

Waiting for the suggestion, or the WIP images, or both?
One suggestion just came to mind; swiss army knife + cheese.
My parents just came back from a trip across parts of Germany, Switzerland and else, and they also brought me a Victorinox pocket knife (quite small) which had a nail clipper in it besides the usual knife, nail file and scissor (not to mention tweezers and toothpick).
I haven't really continued the previously mentioned ZBrush project, though, and I haven't gotten to a point where I feel it makes sense to post WIP snapshots.

(Warning, status update incoming. Feel free to return the favor!)
WIP images, of course! My avatar is done as it is for now.
Don't have a swiss army knife on my own; not that I really need it. But it's definitely handy when you're going camping or something.
I guess a lot of stuff's on hold currently, even on my side. GF (soon-to-be wife after 9 years) is busy with everything (and got a cold now) after having shoulder sinew and later abdominal surgery this year. Nothing major, but still, it's burdening. Also trying to get kids, but that's a completely different topic... (I don't want to yet, but latter surgery has to do something with that topic which makes her stressed out beyond necessity and wanting to rush it now)
Also picked up the guitar again, but just about 3 weeks in the teacher I went to had 2 sudden family losses, which made the 1-per-week schedule impossible, with cancelled lessons in-between and he's taking a month break now.
At least I kept up with my gym schedule, 2 months now, good results. Now I just need to add one more thing...e.g. art or so.
TL;DR: Everyone's fucked up except me, but it's keeping me busy to an extent I can't focus on my own stuff.
What about you?

Antaria-Nova In reply to SwissCheesy [2017-09-30 13:12:44 +0000 UTC]
I'll post WIP images when (if ever) I get the model to such a point it feels like it makes some sense to do so.
A small swiss army knife or multitool thing like the Gerber Dime can be handy in some "normal life" things like if you get a splinter somewhere, need to open some package or some such.
I guess I can both congratulate you (and you both) to some extent and wish you luck and happiness and all that king of stuff (candy rainbows optional). In my experience it's rarely good to rush anything, least of all something more or less literally life-changing. I'm glad you can manage to keep some routine hobbies in that mix of things going on. Gives some semblance of stability I suppose. I haven't really had any other hobbies than the computer, thinking about stuff and reading (and looking for work, which kinda is work in itself). Now finally I can stop looking for work as I've got a job! About time, too. Was starting to get too used to the polite version of "Sucks to be you, better luck next time."-messages, if the company even bothered with such a thing.
The thing is, if everyone is fucked up besides yourself, then eventually you'll end up being fucked up by the atmosphere of fuckedupness.
In short, I'm happy I finally have a job, though a bit nervous about it as is normal, I'm looking forward to it (starts the coming monday with some schooling for it and so on). And we shall see how life goes from there.

Yup, obviously. I wouldn't post half-finished animations either, right? As you said, don't rush anything. That said, I guess I'll have to use the "headache" tactic women (by clichΓ©) tend to use, concerning the baby topic.
I guess having a kitchen at work makes it obsolete to have an own knife with you. So I can't talk by experience at all. But definitely good for any odd occasion.
PC's the main thing for me, too. I'll drop learning an instrument (for now?), as I don't intend to make anything "unique" with that knowledge or play in a band. Literally "back to the drawing board", as in the Cintiq tablet that's not being used currently. Time to improve those drawing skills.
And yeah, the stability thing is an issue. I manage to keep it up pretty well, but it's getting wonky recently. Probably need to focus more and learn a few new things. See above.
Anyway, congrats right back at you! I've only had that issue once, for about a month or so. It's definitely a bother when you're turned down, sometimes even without a hint of what was missing to be able to get the position.
What's it what you do, though?

Antaria-Nova In reply to SwissCheesy [2017-10-03 16:22:36 +0000 UTC]
Heh.
Well, it's not really as an utensil, rather as utility. In case you discover you have a thread sticking out of something you're wearing and want to address that at once, or other random things.
PC masterrace! Best of luck with improving them drawing skillz.
Everyone needs stability. Different people consider different things important for their "stability", though. As usual, for each their own.
Thanks. Also when I once asked what might have been the reason why I wasn't chosen, the answer was as vague as can possibly be, which didn't help one bit...
I'm currently learning the ropes for being a call centre customer service person.
Customer service as such is nothing new, but doing it through phone, email and other web-based things is more on the new side, since I've been mostly just face-to-face salesman/whatever in actual physical shops. That's actually the way I prefer it, since it has a more genuine contact with customers and you get some moving around and doing assorted things to keep things "on" and fresh.

Welp, here I am again without much progress to speak of. Though if you check my journal, so far I'm successful at being a dad and I've tried a few things here and there, but in the end, art seems to be my calling.
I will not waste any more time with anything else (except maybe Death Stranding and FFVII Remake ).
I'll be happy to get your feedback on my upcoming work. Planning to warm up with emoticons first and more on from there. Everything I need is set and ready.

Cool. Guessed it was fractal, since... well, how would I put it? It has a certain clarity and order combined with chaos and diffuseness, a paradox of sorts. It's intriguing.
