Yesss the Ritsu content has been addictive x'DD I almost wish there were more, but my main source is youtube and it sadly doesn't always show me the newest things :'D
And ooooh that's good news at least lol so far I've only heard bad things about it and the few times I tried to use it it was too confusing so I switched back x'D but if it's good then that's a relief when they finally make the switch and force everyone over :'D In the mean time I shall cling to the old layout for as long as they let me LOL

First and foremost I would recommend you read the Newbie Guide if you haven't already!
Your kukuri will need to go through an approval process to be usable in the group activities, so basically you need to give it a design based on the genes it has and submit it for Design Approval - the design approval page has more information on how to go about doing this c:
