For references I suggest to search figure models on tumblr and redraw them. There are lots of blog about that.

For gesture, I found really helpful proko's video-tutorials. Check it out, it think it's really worth it: www.youtube.com/user/ProkoTV?f…

No problem, your photography, especially your animal photography, is very well captured. How do you manage to get your subjects still and manage to get so close without scaring them off?
