Je suis curieux, parmi vos commandes, avez-vous déjà eu à bouillir et cirer du cuir?

Dans le même ordre d'idée, avez-vous eu à faire une brigandine avec du métal pour un gniste ou quiconque faisant de la reconstitution?

ArtisansdAzure In reply to DarthX4 [2014-12-29 16:32:08 +0000 UTC]

Your armor work is amazing! I cannot articulate(well, express through text) how awesome your work is. I would favorite them all, but I don't quite have the perseverance. Maybe dA should add a "Fave All" button...

I am in LOVE with you work. Absolutely amazing. I'm an archer and I've been looking for a new quiver so my last one got torn from a fall. I decided to look on deviantart for a new one and i found one of yours a fell in love. Do you still have the Deluxe Quiver, protection to the shoulder and pouch?

do you have any advice to an amateur/beginning armor maker on how to shape metal for plate armor? I plan on making a leather jerkin to fit under it/attach to. what kind of leather would be comfortable but durable enough to withstand metal?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtisansdAzure In reply to ryujack134 [2012-10-11 04:29:30 +0000 UTC]

Hi there

Metal shaping can be handy... you need to learn how metal react, per example: if you hit your piece in spiral from the center to outside you can raise the piece to give an bowl effect. You will learn fast enough when the cold rolling metal will rip. I suggest you to learn how to cold roll before trying to heat it.

For the leather... more soft / thin the leather will be, more it will be easy to you rivet to pop-out. So try to use some 5-6mm leather to attach you metal on it, use some washer too. You can make some in leather or use some metal one.

You dont have rivets? Use cutted nail.

Before making you armor, try to make it in paper or card board is similar and curve react almost the same way

hello guys! I'm doing some research on armour on google and trying to do some art studies on it. However the diagrams I am finding are messy and limiting in explanation.
It's all fair and well seeing what a piece of equipment is but how you actually equip it is what is holding me back from fully going deep in my studies.
I found your Breastplate with such high quality of image and had to study it and browsed through your gallery and I am stunned at the armour you have.
I was wondering I can ask you some questions about actually equiping pieces of armour (i.e. my main gripe is spaulders and pauldrons) then there's rerebracers and what not.
If you are ok with me picking your brain a bit on information please reply and I can rely to you my woes! lol

ArtisansdAzure In reply to LutherTaylor [2012-06-27 02:05:41 +0000 UTC]

Hm sure thing. All what i can tell you is that any armor piece is attached by strap with buckle or lace and eyelet. Depending on the weight or the stress they are taking you need to choice the best attachment for your armor piece.

For example: Leather pauldron will be attache with lace, metal one, will take belt and buckle

wait!!scratch that! I am still going through your gallery and I think I have found the information I am mainly looking for about spaulders/pauldrons. your images are just that good!!! Please still do reply so I know that you are still active on deviant and I will draw a diagram of what I think is correct, so you can confirm for me.

Your work is incredible! I'm a big fan; I'm hoping to save up the money to purchase something from you guys at some point. I was wondering where you got some of the inspiration for some of the armor sets? I also wanted to ask your permission to use a variant of an armor set or two of yours in some of my writing? I do a lot of fiction and fantasy, thought most of it I cannot post due to constant editing and such, but I'd love to include descriptions of armor similar to your, with your permission of course.

Thanks! We appreciate it, for the description and else , yeah no problem have fun! We are glad you take some inspiration from our work! Where we inspirate? Me (Mark) im a gamer so it's sure that some time my idea should come from games, i dont take images and else from any game but... i know that in my Subconscious the idea grow there before i put it on paper.

Sometime we actually put some details inspirate from some popular looking , skyrim, assassin creeds, movies, etc.

Some other time it come from encyclopedia like "violet leduc" or the bible of maciejowski.

But it's mainly original most of the time^^

AutumnNight714 In reply to ArtisansdAzure [2012-05-16 20:31:48 +0000 UTC]

Awesome thank you so much!
That's how I get a lot of my book ideas as well. Playing Oblivion or Skyrim, Dragon Age or Assassins Creed. As well, my work is completely original, but it does branch from deep roots that started while playing the games, so I understand that completely.
Well, I'm looking forward to anything else you make and post, and thanks again for letting me use branches of similar designs in some of my writing.
